Hello Folks. I posted about two watches I purchased for my 50th birthday in another thread, both have arrived now though the Bulova sadly was not working so it is on its way back to the seller who will hopefully be able to fix it. However, in the mail today was the Birks Fortis made dress watch and I have fallen in love with this one! I think its the dial more than anything else. Vertical bars running down the dial that are gold in some light, chocolate brown in others. The dial looks like spun silk in the way it shimmers and sadly my photo's do not do it justice. It is a good size and from the tiny amount I have been able to find out I think it is from the 1970's though I stand to be corrected on that. The crystal is plastic and in first class shape and any imperfections you see in the pictures is merely dust, or marks. The case and crystal are first class. Strap is a new genuine lizard in dark brown which I think compliments the watch perfectly! Hard to tell about timekeeping yet but it winds and sets smoothly and sounds to be a slower beat movement which I like, manual wind as well. Here are some quick pictures, I think this watch is a beauty, hope you like it too!

Beautiful vintage feel to it Ian. Kind of reminds me of the styles in the Frank Sinatra days.

You have it spot on Roger! I often watch Newhart and he has similar style watches and the rat pack as well. I love that late sixties early seventies mad men look and I think this pulls it off. Will report back tomorrow to see how its keeping time. Thanks mate.

Very happy with the timekeeping of this watch. After experimentation of resting positions at night it is keeping within a minute a day which I think is excellent for a vintage watch!
