Hi Folks. This vintage watch thing has bitten hard and looking around I have seen another possible purchase and wanted your thoughts. Its a 1930's Rotary art deco style ( I love art deco!). Have wanted a Rotary for a long time (in the UK they were like Hamiltons I think it fair to say in comparison for my American friends) and saw this! Its Gold Filled both on the case and strap though the case back is SS, just been serviced and running well as you would expect with a fresh service. Everything looks original, the dial does not look refinished which I like! its about the same size as my Bulova, 39mmx22mm

Ruddy snipers! 0 bids and two minutes to go and I thought I had it for $40 but some bugger got in in the last few seconds, ah well!

That's too bad, Ian. Keep looking. Half the fun is in the hunt....

Pretty cool looking watch, and yes, the hunt is far better than the kill.

I do love the look of that one! Especially the contrasting colours on the dial. I have to say that it would have disappointed me as well to have missed that. Anyway, lots more where that one came from. But it truly is a work of art. Cheers Carl

I know Carl, its a rare one as well. Have no fear though, I have my eye on a 1960's pocket watch at the moment, 15 minutes to go, will let you know if I win it!

Got it! A Westbury Pocket watch for $18 in good working condition, gold plated 17 jewel incabloc, its not the best name or that collectable but considering it cost less than those cheap Chinese ones off eBay and its Swiss I think its a good starting place to see if I like them enough to spend more on something English, Silver and older! Have wanted a pocket watch for so long and I love the sunburst style of this watch!

Glad to see that you are having so much fun with these amazing vintage pieces. Great pocket watch. At the price, you simply can't miss! Cheers, Carl

Cheers Carl, Its coffee shop money at this level so I am ok with spending these amounts. The way I am looking at it is that if it, as I think it will, take me down the vintage road in more depth then there will be a thinning out of the heard so as to leave me with the AK and two really nice vintage watches, a wristwatch in solid gold, tank or tonnau style and a silver English pocket watch. This way I get to feel it all out in relative safety without throwing the baby with the bath water!
