Well, it has Sterling silver and there are two German connections, one historical, one practical but the watch is new! I will give a clear clue. It has heat treated blued hands!

Kat, I am giving the prize to you as your the closest! It is indeed an Archer Sterling just like Carls... Wait, well. It is Carls! I am buying it from him! I was going to get the Vintage model Al does but then I got to thinking nearly all my watches are now vintage and they require a little more care (not going out in the rain and such) so When Carl said that he thought the Sterling was not for him I jumped! I fell in love with it the moment I saw it last week. So we are meeting tomorrow for coffee and doing the deal then. I think as well when I got the Omega this week which has stolen my heart it made the thought of the Sterling rather than the vintage even more appropriate as they are both similar designs and I love that style. To have a hand built watch appeals greatly to me as well. I love things with human content which is why I love mechanical watches. A human has had a lot to do with building them but then take that to Al's level and it gets more personal and bespoke. The Breitling has gone and though I liked it I never loved it and in all honesty it spent more time in its box than it did on my wrist. So down the road I have my eye on another vintage piece as well. So well done Kat! A million dollars in used bills will be winging its way to you ( Zimbabwean $$) so I can send you the quarter in equivalent US funds if you prefer!

Sadly, I'm old enough to remember that show. I suspect Carl found it a little large. If I could find that style in a 36 or 37mm size, I would love it. Carl and I have a lot in common, regarding our collecting habits, including "flipper's disease." Congrats, Ian. That is one gorgeous timepiece... Now, I imagine we can expect another incoming thread, shortly, .............from Carl.....

Now, I imagine we can expect another incoming thread, shortly, .............from Carl..... I remember the show very well! Ah, yes, the flipper disease. Full speed ahead! That is exactly it, Kat, a little large. I love everything about the watch, except when on my wrist and I look at it from the top. Which is obviously where we look at it from 99% of the time. The watch is so beautiful, and I really fought with myself over it. And it's not like I have a small wrist at 7.25in. I even saw the pics and a video with the watch on other peoples' wrists, even one smaller than mine, and it looked just fine. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Sinn. I really had no idea that they made a watch under about 42mm. Yes, an incoming from me is definitely going to happen. Not any time soon, though. I am selling a few (4) watches, and putting some cash aside, probably for some months. I am finally going to get the watch that I should have got 4 or 5 watches ago! I can never wait long enough to get together enough funds for what I really want, so I end up spending less along the way and then flipping. No complaints here, though. It always is fun. I figure if, at age 65, I am not having fun, then I never will. Right now I have my gorgeous '63 Seamaster, the orange Monster that Ian kindly gave me, and two beautiful Cartier Tank solos. I am so glad that the Sterling is going to a good home! Cheers, Carl
