I know, I know, I may have said that a couple of times of late but honestly, this is it for now!
This micro burst of buying is in the main because watches I have wanted for a long time have all seemed to have come up at the right prices for me at the same time. Now though its time to enjoy them and get the old bank balance up again!
So, what have I purchased? Well it was a few minutes before Carl and I met for coffee and to be honest I set a price that I was willing to go to and that would be it! Funny thing is I seem to have had the watch God looking down on me of late as much to my great surprise I saw the minutes tick away to seconds and all of a sudden the message said congratulations, you've won!
I know, I still have not said what yet! But before I do I will say this comes from a watchmaker who is selling off a large part of his collection. This fellow has serviced these movements before and did a fresh service and battery change on this one before sale.. Yes, I said battery!
The watch has been owned by him since new (1972) and apart from some microscopic nicks that the naked eye would have trouble seeing on the case it is mint. The dial and hands are like the day it came from the factory and the case is most certainly 1970's flared trousers but I love it!
So, it serviced has the original signed crown and a new genuine brand matched calf strap and buckle and is keeping time to within 0.01 SECONDS a day!
Hmm, not enough info for you to guess yet?
OK, I will spill the beans
Its an Omega Geneve f300hz Chronometer in gold plate! I have the Bulova cousin but have wanted an Omega Hummer for such a long time.
I won't tell you what I won it for as it would make you cry at how little I got it for!
More pictures to come but these two from the sale to whet your appetite!
Well, I now have four watches in the mail, the next couple of weeks are going to feel like Christmas! I think the collection is now well rounded. I would never have dreamed that one day I would own all these lovely watches but that day has come and I can now have a great deal of fun boring everyone here with all the permutations of daily wearers and lots of pictures!
