I broke down a little bit, and visited the Tudor web site. I found this model which seems to be singing to me...
I suspect it costs a pretty penny. It will keep me from buying it. I tried that model on this weekend. Both the silver and black dials. It's quite thick for what it is. I believe it's $6300 on a steel bracelet and fabric strap.

That's a nice one, Dex Different from the other watches you have and rather elegant. Could this end up being the one?

Just curious, is it the design or the alarm feature that is attracting you to it? If it's the alarm feature, I would suggest looking at a Vulcain Cricket President. They were the first to engineer an alarm movement in a wristwatch and unlike Tudor, their models still feature an in house movement. The President name comes from the fact that many presidents and head of states wore one when after it was introduced by them in 1949. It's a bit more money but still a lot less than the JLC Memovox. I played with a Cricket at Tourneau Dallas and I really really liked it. If it wasn't for the price, I would be very tempted to get one. I find the idea of a mechanical alarm movement fascinating for some reason.

Check out this beauty freshly serviced on ebay! www.ebay.ca/itm/BEAUTIFUL-SEIKO-BELLMATIC-AUTOMATIC-ORIGINAL-DIAL-VINTAGE-JAPAN-WATCH-FREE-DHL-/171293528257?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item27e1e3d0c1&_uhb=1And this is what they sound like!

Those mechanical alarm watches are SO cool! One with a clear caseback would be the next best thing to a minute repeater from Vacheron Constantin or Patek Philippe in my opinion!

I'm never really looked into the mechanical alarm watches, but always assumed that the alarm wouldn't be too loud. Since I'm a heavy sleeper, I don't think it'd wake me up either, but had never thought about the daytime "reminder" alarm usage. I also like the layout of the dial and material choice of going with a mix of Ti/SS. Looks like a sweet watch IMHO.
