I have not mentioned this one on the forum but I have been searching for one for years but the exact model is not easily available but now I have one, it arrived today and I am over the moon! So, what is it? Well, not sure what a lot of you will think but in its day it was probably the most cutting edge design in horology and it rocked the boat for a few short years. I am talking LED, I am talking the daddy of all LED's, the Hamilton QED.. Does not ring any bells, hmm. Perhaps this picture will jog your memories! Thats right, who loves ya baby! I have the watch Telly Savalas wore in Kojak! Well, not the exact one but the identical make and model. Growing up in the UK I would wait all week to watch an episode of Kojak as a child. I loved and still love the show and though he was the coolest of cool. To think I now own that watch, well, I am still pinching myself! Here are some quick shots. This watch has an auto correct calendar function so it allows for short months and february as well. Pretty advanced stuff back in the day. I love that this one has the dot display, I always preferred that. You adjust time and date with a nifty magnet that contained in a little compartment in the bracelet clasp. There are two indentations on the back of the case and when you place the magnet in the indentations it advances month, date and time. Its really funky! Here are some more shots, I am over the moon with this one!

Cheers Chip. You know what its like sometimes. Something you have lusted after for many years in the flesh is not what you thought it would be. This is most certainly everything and more that I dreamt of!
Great thing is as well is that the seller has installed a brand new old stock module as well as new batteries so it should be uber reliable.

That is a blast from the past. Put on the leisure suit, cowboy boots and some gold chains and you're pimpin! Those red LEDs were SO popular when they came out and super cool. What a great piece of history to have Ian. Congrats.

Thanks Roger. Once the first generation Seiko digital arrives I will take a group photo of all the early electrics I have. With this one I have now rounded out that part of my collection! And by the way. You must have been in town last week and seen me at my local coffee shop! Just watching an episode of Kojak, so many great wrist shots showing the watch I am wearing, its waaay cool!

What a score Ian, I like that style a lot. I remember seeing one as kid on some guy I was delivering a paper too. Wear it in the best of health mate.

You know, I did! I sat there last night watching a pre lollipop Kojak episode where he smoked those thin Balkan sobrani cigarettes I thin it was season 3 where they made it a running joke with the lollipops as an aide to giving up smoking!
I think shaving my head is going too far though! I will take a picture of the side of the case later, it's huge, as thick as my old Breitling Seawolf!

That's awesome! Congratulations, Ian! It must feel good to finally have this watch based on the story behind it. That thing must look really cool in the dark.
