OK, a little bit of history. In the Timex collectors world their are a few grails. Amongst those grails the holy of holy's are the solid gold Dorado model, the Southampton mechanical chronograph, the last manual wind and the Ben Hogan. All of those are vintage models. There is one modern model though that fits into the holy of holy categories and that is the 150th anniversary model. Only 500 were made and none of them went outside of Timex, it was never sold retail! Of the 500 the first 4 are in the Timex museum. The remaining 496 went to the Timex management. I just won on eBay #266/500! It has never been worn, comes with inner and outer box and has all the seals in place. These are such sort after watches amongst Timex collectors due to their rarity and where most of them went. I could not believe it as the time ticked away, no one bid, I won it for $49! And its in Canada so I should have it by the end of next week. Here are some shots from the seller. The watch has indiglo and the dial is a beautiful sparkly grey colour, you can't see it in this as the plastic is still on the crystal. The indices are chrome not blue! This made my weekend!

Wow, getting something that limited for so little is amazing. Are you going to wear it since it's a BNIB set?

Thanks Roger. As I found out more about this piece I edited it as none went outside of Timex. I am going to wear it. I know some would not but the whole point of the thing is to be worn I think.
When you think about the background to this watch this also has to be the stealth of stealth of limited editions to wear. So few would know how special it if they see it on my wrist. I must say that gives me a bit of a buzz!

WOW! I am really excited for you on this one, Ian. This is a big score indeed.
I love the engraving on the back as well, and the LE info displayed on the dial.
Totally agree, the watch must be worn. And I know you will do so with great pleasure. These things are meant to be enjoyed, it's why I have started to wear the MarkII to work now.
This will really be a wonderful conversation piece as well. A real "buzz" as you say. Nothing is a better compliment IMO than when someone asks about the watch you are wearing. If you love watches, they become a part of you. It is not a show off thing. When it is done right, as you do, and one is humble about it, it becomes a joy for everyone to behold and discuss. You truly deserve this run of luck you are having with these wonderful vintage pieces, I know how much you are enjoying this, and everyone is enjoying you sharing your pleasure. You have a knack for enjoying these timepieces the way they are meant to be enjoyed!
Cheers, Carl

Thanks Carl and Rommel. This one shocked me i must say, not only because they really never come up for sale as they were all within Timex and secondly how little i got it for. I must admit I was prepared to go to the buy it now price of $119 but did not have to. Could not believe it went for so little knowing how much people want this model. I can only put it down to timing.
Most collectors of Timex are in the US so the worst possible day for the auction to finish for the seller would have been yesterday evening, the fourth of July, the day everyone is having fun and so few are by their computers!
I have said it before and will say it again with eBay. Timing is everything when it comes to getting the bargains!

Proof that there's an extremely positive side to eBay. I made an account at 18 years old WAY back and it opened up a whole new world to me. I never would have known about the items I collect or many other things had it not been for eBay. When used properly it's amazing!
So true about the 4th being far from ideal for a seller to the US market. Either way, I'm sure it's a smaller percentage of collectors that actually know about the piece or were looking at that time. This purchase like the rest was meant to be for you, allowing you to add to your future watch museum.
This one couldn't have worked out any better, that's for sure!

Nice 1 Ian, I'd wear it as well. Far to cool to be left hiding away in a box
