After much research I dertemined that the RCAF Waltham originally came on a khaki canvas strap made by several strap makers in the US. The most notable of which was Guss. I sourced a NOS untouced strap still in its original cardboard and cellophane packaging from a great guy in the States www.watchdoc.comHere in a week and now on the watch, it totally makes this watch I feel to have it back on what it was originally issued with. I went for a simple one piece with brass fittings as I thought the brass would compliment the little bit of brassing on the case and it does. Thanks so much again Carl, this is a magnificent watch and I am so grateful to you.

That looks fantastic, Ian! Looks green though? Regardless, I can't wait to see it.
Cheers, Carl

It is green Carl. "Khaki" originally was an earth tone used by the Corps of Guards in India (from where the name was derived) in 1846 but the name and colour was adopted by many Military branches across the world subsequently and in that process differing shades were made for different combat locations so it became a more generic term for drab military dress rather than just a colour. In Fact this particular shade is OD green used by the North American military (OD= Olive Drab)
Khaki became a slang word for any heavy duty military type canvas material. I think you will like what it does for the watch when you see it in person.

I think it ties in with the aged lume beautifully.

I'm glad you found the ideal strap for this watch, Ian! Gives it a nice tactical look, as intended originally.
