That's really cool.
I read the article but I must have missed one detail... 2500 buys the full watch with your own design or is that price for the custom work alone, plus the price of the case and movement?

At the very end of the article it says... "Artur Akmaev’s timepieces will run you around $2500, however, since these are custom, one-of-a-kind pieces, prices will vary depending on complexity and desired amount of detail. This includes a Swiss ETA movement with plating, steel case, sapphire crystal, leather strap, and of course hand engraving work by Artur Akmaev."

That's really not too bad for a one off piece.

Lovely! ETA movement or not, that's still art! The sad part is, even with unlimited funds (for watches) I may not even be interested in buying some of those 6 figure + artsy pieces. I'm a sucker for Rolex and Audemars Piguet's normal "everyday" watches. Thanks for sharing this!

My biggest struggle would be figuring out what to have on mine.
I wish I was an aristocrat and had a family crest! (I'm guessing having one engraved with rolex omega, panerai etc wouldn't fly lol )

It's like getting a tattoo - you need to be happy with it for LIFE or you'll regret it. I keep thinking about a mountain lake scene, but not sure how to personalize it.

As much as I appreciate the artistry involved, somehow skeletonized movements don't appeal to me much. They always seem to be "too much of a good thing" if you get what I mean...
I think I would tire of it pretty quickly.
But those are certainly well done.
Cheers, Al

Cheers, Al I generally find that there's not enough contrast between the hands and the mechanism to read the time effectively. But the blue hands the silver background in the first photo is very legible and very beautiful
