Saw this new release on their FB page. I like the Grey Side the best and the white is not for me, but I'm sure it will appeal to some.

Seems like a cool watch there. It'll be nice to see actual pictures as they surface. I've noticed more and more men wearing white watches as fashion pieces. Other high end brands seem to be incorporating this into their designs too.

There will be more. Pink side. Yellow side. Cratered side. Rocky side. We all know how omega has been operating lately.

Isn't there already a white Speedmaster? That one with the red casing around it, that was worn in the Arctic, or something?

Couldn't have said it any better really. I'm interested to see what can make things better for them minus actually turning into the brands more people desire. Anyone I've ever spoken to about watches wanted something versatile that could serve as an every day, life long watch. Even the guy I got my Explorer II from mentioned he likes Vacheron Constantin and other watches he can fit under his shirt cuff without any issues. Little things like this can play a major role in sales success. For a brand that focuses a lot of their marketing on the general public through film and sport (Olympics) it seems a tad out of reach for most.

They will always sell a lot of moon watches and Seamasters. As for the Planet Ocean, I had the 2500 versions, which had a real wrist presence, and I did enjoy them. But, now that I have my 16610, I much prefer its size and weight over the PO. As much as I love the Speedy Pro, Omega figured out a way to push it up over 5 grand, with its fancy new packaging and extra goodies. Having said that, it is pretty cool, and I'm proud to own one. I feel that Omega's obvious attempt to rival Rolex is foolish. They ARE desperate. You can see it in their attempt to make every classic old Omega "new again", aka the FOIS 2 or 3 years ago at Basel, the new Seamater 300 last year, and now the Globemaster, which obviously pays homage to the iconic Constellation Piepan..... Get your shEEt together, Omega! You are not now, nor will you ever be another Rolex.......

Well said, Kat. People spending that much money on a watch (the majority of the time) will want it to be a status symbol. Audemars Piguet and Hublot have been using actors, shows, pro athletes, and musicians to reach one of the largest markets (USA). I can't remember ever seeing an Omega get the screen time on shows like Entourage. They had a huge spot for the gold Royal Oak when the head of a studio gave one to Vince's agent, Ari Gold. Eric also wore a Daytona for some time. Just like fashion, what these folks wear / use has a huge impact on the industry. Having worked with pro athletes before I know for a fact they watch shows like Entourage and decided to buy things they saw "advertised" on that show.
My Planet Ocean with the 2500 (A) wore well but wasn't 100% to my taste as the more refined watches. Although the new Planet Ocean Chronograph grabs my attention, I may not even buy one, ever. Love looking at it online but with each AD visit it makes me feel like a small child going though his fathers safe. The actual diameter means squat depending on the design. The thickness is a major factor here as many have pointed out.
