I had a feeling with all your posts of late on this you'd own it soon but thought you'd hold out for the strap. That offer is the best of both worlds and you'll be able to swap between bracelet and strap which always feels like you just got a whole new watch. Congratulations Carl! Very happy for you.

Thanks, Roger. I really didn't think that I would get it this soon. After 18 months of looking at every make and model, I knew this was inevitable. Add to that our crazy Canadian Dollar right now, only a matter of time before prices will go up again here. The bracelet is way nicer on the watch than I thought, but I have a whole new watch to look forward to when that strap gets here! If that offer had not been in place, I would definitely have pre ordered one with the strap, though.

carlCongratulations. That's stunning. The lume looks fabulous. Enjoy and wear in good health. As an aside your posts of the various straps have caused an incoming. Not a watch yet, but a strap.. Should be here in a couple of weeks.

Now I want a new strap for my 422. I'm thinking the OEM Ponte Vecchio strap.

Way to go, Carl! I'm so happy for you! A lot of thought went into this one and it's nice to see how this piece grew on you! Taking a longer time to decide on a watch that will be a keeper is the only way to go. To me this wins over the Globemaster any day! Enjoy in the best of health!

Should be here in a couple of weeks. That is great news! Can't wait till it arrives, and to see some pics. Also, when you might be coming into town at the weekend, if you have an hour or so, maybe we can meet up for a coffee. I don't drive any more - not because I can't, but choose not to - but have no problem taking transit if you feel like meeting up somewhere other than the East Side/Commercial Drive area.

Way to go, Carl! I'm so happy for you! A lot of thought went into this one and it's nice to see how this piece grew on you! Taking a longer time to decide on a watch that will be a keeper is the only way to go. To me this wins over the Globemaster any day! Enjoy in the best of health! Thanks, Rommel. I must admit that I was more than a bit stunned when I really liked the bracelet on the watch. In the past few days, I have been looking at some older pics with the brushed bracelet - that Sasan at the Boutique put on the Spectre - and I actually don't think the all brushed look works so well, as the top of the case is polished. You get the polished bit at the lugs, then the brushed end links, then the PCLs with the regular bracelet, and I think the separation works better. One of those things that has to be seen to appreciate, though. A fairly blingy look, to be honest, but in a good way. Still, I am very excited to receive the leather strap!
I find the Globemaster to be a beautiful timepiece. But neither the blue nor silver dial would appeal to me after a while. And one of the biggest pluses for me, with the Seamaster 300, is the absence of the date complication. It is sincerely a huge deal for me, and means more than just about any other detail of the watch. I was actually very surprised when Omega went ahead with that, and give them very high marks for it. In my searches of vintage reissue watches over the past couple of years, I am nearly always disappointed when the watch manufacturers add a date complication that was not present on the vintage models. I do realize that many of the vintage Seamaster 300 models did have the date complication, but this just adds so much to this watch without it IMO.
Over the past 18 months, I have spent more time trying on, and looking at this watch online, reading and re-reading various reports. And trying to decide whether or not I should get the titanium version or a combo steel/Sedna Gold. More time than any other watch. It just seems to me that it warrants finally purchasing one. In the end, my passion for the watch dictated that it was based to a great extent on it's resemblance to the vintage Seamaster and Railmaster, and that being the all steel version. Any other option would have led to regret. Not to mention quite a bit more expense, although I could justify that, if it was what I really wanted.
Here is a not very good shot of the watch in it's new box:

Wow, such incredible packaging! You made the correct choice for the long run. It's better to have the bracelet anyway even if you hardly end up using it. At least it's there for the odd day and straps are much easier to come by! Sometimes it takes a while to appreciate what these companies do on any particular piece but as time passes you start to see their research and development paid off.
Although having the date window on some watches is my preference I've come to appreciate a clean, symmetrical dial not "hacked" up to make room for that feature. The Speedmaster and Daytona are perfect examples. It also makes rotating watches a heck of a lot easier if one ends up getting several days of wrist time and the others stop. With the history behind this true divers watch it makes a lot of sense to have a more durable, less complicated movement in it as well.
