I certainly thought that the date corrector on my Mark II - at 10 o'clock - was a great feature. Of course, the Mark II doesn't have the HEV.

Excellent post Archer , thank you for taking the time. We are fortunate to get the watchmaker perspective. There are things in the post by Archer that just would not have occurred to me. Thanks for sharing it Al.

Glad you found it helpful. Don't get me wrong, I understand that people might be disappointed in not getting the service they believe they should. But sometimes if you know a bit of background behind some of the design decisions and policies, it helps you understand the "why" a bit better. Not saying it still makes sense in all cases, but not much we can do about it except not buy the product, which is always a valid option.
Certainly not defending Omega here, just trying to explain things a bit. If Basel is any indication, I can't ever see myself buying a new Omega...

Thanks from me as well, Al. The absence Basel 2016 posts on this Omega forum is a strong indication of the lack of Omega popularity. After all these years, Omega has finally succeeded in putting me right off. As my Social Studies teacher in High School used to tell us pupils when we moaned about anything: "Just remember, if you don't like it, you always have the option to leave." And leave I shall. Always remembering the good bits, though, and the stellar times and wonderful treatment I had at the Omega Boutique here in Vancouver. Not bitterness intended, just time to move on. Cheers, Carl

I will say I miss my Omega Seamaster GMT (Great White). The design was fantastic as were the dimensions. It seems that since they started introducing their in-house movements, they've lost their way design wise. There are many amazing vintage and even older modern pieces.

@archer Thanks for taking the time to post that great information! I like the fact that we have a watchmaker on this forum to paint a better picture in these situations. I had no clue those were pushers were part of the base service but should have figured as much.
I'm no longer sweating the small stuff, thankfully. I've been wearing the watch daily and enjoying the heck out of it. No regrets here with this piece and it's keeping excellent time. As my first mechanical Chronograph watch it's a blast to mess around with.
Sadly though like you, none do these new Omega watches appeal to me at all. Still not so fond of the new Chrono Seamaster watches but that's OK.Thankfully I have the one I like and that's what matters most to me. The Swiss watch industry is an incredible thing really. There's something for just about everyone and many brands to experience. Thanks again for the info and I always look forward to learning more about watches from your posts!
