Did anyone else see this announcement yesterday? Panerai has released 4 new designs coming in an 10.4mm (42mm case) and 10.7mm (45mm case) thick! They have the same case design elements made thinner and without the thick crystals. I'm sure they will be hugely popular, but the curvature of the crystal distorting the dial when viewing from the side is lost. www.salonqp.com/updates/new_watches/panerai-luminor-due-thin-case/Here are some pictures I grabbed from their Twitter page. Pricing from the article above: PAM00674: (3-Day Automatic, 45mm, stainless steel) – £8,000 PAM00675: (3-day Automatic, 45mm, rose gold) – £19,100 PAM00676 (3-Day Manual, 42mm, stainless steel) – £6,100 PAM00677: (3-Day Manual, 42mm, rose gold) – £16,500

Interesting. I like them, but probably better to wait to see them in real life. They seem more elegant. I can see why they would be popular, although off hand I would say I prefer the thicker case. Just my $0.02 worth, ymmv.

I like them and think they'll be a hit. Maybe a hybrid? Thin case with the domed sapphire?

Looks like a thin case with a flat crystal. The more I look at them, the more I like.

I just read this and was checking on the forum to see if anyone had already posted about it! I think it's pretty cool, and for a fairly reasonable price

Thanks for sharing that article, Roger. I always suspected the main cause for the limited stock AD's have around here was related to this. Back in the day the top sellers moved quickly too yet I was always able to see one when I went.
Although not inexpensive, they'll have a lot more people willing to give these fine watches a try. The thickness is understandably a deal breaker for many but we'll see in time how this plays out I guess.

Just saw this graphic that seems to be saying even the bigger cases are getting downsized too. Anyone ready anything about that yet?

That's the first I've heard of it. Hopefully some more comparison shots will be available soon. I wonder how the enthusiast community feels about that.

I sure like the looks of the watch. I am starting to wonder (again) if pricing is getting out of hand with watches in general. But since folks are willing to pay for it, the answer appears to be no.
