I must own one of these while I am still alive! I have spent countless hours looking at gold watches - all makes and models - and just keep coming back to this one. Not only the most beautiful gold watch I have seen, but the most versatile. Dress it up, or dress it down. Found this excellent video on YouTube while I was Googling:
For me, I have to finally admit I like it more than the white gold GMT Pepsi. No use trying to deny the fact just because the white gold is less blingy.
Just hope that Rolex keeps producing this Day Date combo of case/bracelet/dial until the day I will be able to own one! And even if I can't own one, it is always pure fun to dream and anticipate.
Cheers, Carl

Rolex prices have gone absolutely nuts as of late, both new and pre-owned. My Datejust has gone up significantly since I bought it, and my 5513 I won't even mention. Crazy prices for sure.

FWIW never been a fan if green on a Rolex. Sorry Carl. Hey, no apologies necessary. After all, I would be the one wearing it. The green/gold combo or brown/gold combo has always been a favorite of mine. Green was always a favorite colour since I was a child. One thing I do appreciate about Rolex, is their variety of dial color choices. I have looked at some of the lovely Omega gold watches as well, and just wished they would have more dial options.

For me, it'd be the WG model with the blue dial. Just stunning.

Well, I saw a Day Date in Everose gold the other day, although not with the green dial. I think it was the smaller 36mm model, and had a silver or white dial. Much as I hate to admit, I think over time all that Everose red/pink gold might be too much for me. The YM that Chip has, with the black strap, bezel and dial is about perfect IMO for an Everose gold watch. While that would not be the model for me, I would either go for something all yellow gold or an Everose with leather strap to tone it down a bit.

I like it, but I would definitely need to see the dial under different lighting to be positive. But that combo with the everose... wow

I like it, but I would definitely need to see the dial under different lighting to be positive. But that combo with the everose... wow Well, I have the Oyster Perpetual 34mm with that same olive green dial. I have never owned a watch with a more interesting dial, including a couple of stunning Grand Seiko pieces. I saw a couple off DD40 with Everose the other day at an AD. Not with this dial, though. I think the Everose looks a lot "blingier" ( for want of a better term ) in photos than in real life. And a couple in yellow gold. For some reason, the Everose suits my skin tone better. I really like the white gold as well, and there was one with the blue dial and Roman numerals. Stunning as it is, I think there are just too many makes and models of watches out there with blue sunburst dials. I had an Omega Aqua Terra for a while, and tired of it real quickly. But blue has never really been my color, just something I admire on watch dials and on other peoples' wrists. There was a 36mm DD as well, yellow gold with emerald green dial. Now, that is stunning as well. It actually had the Rolex leather strap in sort of a tan color. If I ever got a DD, though, it would have to have the President bracelet.

Rommel's thread "Booked my introductory lesson" had a real impact on me. So, I went to the mall today, to see if I could find a GMT-Master II to look at. When I picked up my OP34 a couple months ago, they had one in SS, so I kind of hoped it might still be there. No such luck. Instead, the only one they had was the yellow gold model. I did look, but did not dare try it on. What a stunning beauty! I like it even more than the Pepsi: I was so proud of myself for not stepping into a mall or watch shop for over a month, until this past week!

Ha! The GMT has a way of bringing people right back to an AD lol. Hands down my favorite Rolex! I'll still get a Submariner but can't see it getting as much wrist time. The GMT is perfect for work or play, I'm a huge fan of the polished centre links and they're holding up fine for me thus far!
