There's something striking about this dial that makes it so attractive. I'd like to add that to my collection, but realistically I don't see that happening.

Wait until the silly price is out there before leaping. Nice yes but certainly not worth the price of a Fiat! Sorry guys, I became soured on the Dweller when I got the SDDS. Hated it. Price is $11,350

I never paid much attention to it's ceramic predecessor but wonder if this one's a bit more because they consider it the 50th Anniversary piece. I think it's more appropriate to say that this "model" was released on the 50th anniversary rather than calling it a 50th Anniversary piece, which I did initially as well. I was thinking this was a 1 year release and might be limited production, but Rolex has never done that that I am aware of so it should be around for a while. Like the LV, there may be some tweaks during production but even it was not a 1 year run.

Wow, that one is truly impressive indeed! I can only wish the Sub could get that case, matte finish dial and red printing! That one is a winner...

That's totally understandable, Al. The price is the thing I like the least about this watch but each time I see those pictures, wow. Earlier I was on my phone but now from my laptop it only seemed to make things worse. I never paid much attention to it's ceramic predecessor but wonder if this one's a bit more because they consider it the 50th Anniversary piece. Nice it is, I'll admit! As I mature I appreciate the older models, how they wear, look and feel. Although this isn't a big footprint, I'm disliking more and more wearing a mantle clock on my wrist.

Well, I have to admit that I was skeptical when the watch went from 40mm to 43mm. My biggest admiration was that Rolex engineered all 1220m WR into a 40mm case. Now, they must have had to make the case larger because of the new movement. There must be other factors to do with the size, I simply cannot see Rolex making it larger just for the sake of it being a larger watch. And they managed to get the Cyclops to work as well. I have to admit that the Cyclops does suit the watch better, and for me that is saying an awful lot.
The whole thing works! Sea-Dweller in red. I am a sucker for that, too. They kept the lugs fairly short, so at least from the pics it doesn't seen to be a huge fit. I have tried bigger divers - 44 and 45mm - that didn't seem so bad, so this seems very workable.
I would have a very difficult time to justify saying that this is not the perfect diver watch. I thought that the 40mm model was, but I have just been proved wrong. That was my benchmark for a diver watch, and now this 43mm model is.
Right now, I am in the midst of selling almost my entire collection, except for my Tudor BB36. I am having a very difficult time indeed preventing myself spending almost the entire amount on this watch. But it's not going to happen. I know, after years and years of flipping many, many watches that this just would not be the one for me in the long run. But it would sure give me the ultimate high in the meantime! It will certainly be a pleasure to see how much enjoyment some of you guys get out of owning this beauty.

While not exactly a bargain at $13,000CAD, it converts to $9761.00USD, a difference of over $1500USD from the US MSRP of $11,350USD.
I am actually surprised that the DeepSea is only $850CAD more now, at $13,850. And the DeepSea with D-Blue dial $14,200.
Wonder if they will be putting the newer movement into the Sub models next year. Possibly making them larger in both size and price?

I think it is fabulous but fear that it may be too big for my wrist, I have seemed to have got used to 40mm or less.

I will have a look when it arrives, I love the look and can forgive it the cyclops, I have one on my sub after all. If the size is good I would love to part ex my sub for it. If not, then I still have my beautiful sub.

Seems like one heck of a win-win situation to me, Dave! For some reason I had no clue you owned a Submariner.
