Seems like one heck of a win-win situation to me, Dave! For some reason I had no clue you owned a Submariner. I've owned one for just over a year now Rommel, it just feels good. For some reason I did a complete U turn and from not liking a cyclops actually really do now. Strange I know. I know the feeling. It's why I bought the SD initially but on the larger Exp II it works for me. Now that I'm use to it, I have a BLNR on order too. And +1 for "it's good to hear from you again".

Good to hear from you on this end as well Dave!!!
I actually went to my AD again (imagine that). I am told they won't even have the SD50 in before December, si I will just have to wait. Dang.

I was invited into my Rolex AD today to see the mock up display version of the SD50. What a beauty! Looks even better in the flesh and the red text jumps off the dial. Beautifully balanced case with lugs that seamlessly blend not the 22mm bracelet. It's a stunner👍
Can't wait for mine to arrive!

I think it will be a long time before I see one IRL, but I'm loving the photos and the dimension specs.

Definitely one of the nicest diver watches to be had. At first, I was dubious about the Cyclops, but now I think it just belongs. The older 40mm model now looks a bit off to me, although at one time I was lusting after it. Around here, it will be a long time indeed before I expect to see one of these in real life. Or any Submariner models for that matter. I would love to try one on, although I generally prefer the smaller watches. I think when/if the time comes for me to get a diver watch, it would likely be the Sub 114060. But who knows until one tries both? I am really curious to see what happens at Basel 2018. It seems like Rolex is really trying to equip as many models as they can with this new 3235 movement, and I wonder if the Sub will be next.

Thanks for the teaser pics Robb👍 and the kind words Carl. I have been so busy this year it's insane. Sold my DSSD recently to fund the SD50 and currently toting a Suunto Traverse Alpha at the moment. Helluva a piece of kit I must say. Does everything but cook my dinner.
The SD50 is very scarce down here. Just two sold to date. I asked about the Daytona with the white dial and black bezel and was told there's a minimum 3 yr waiting list😳
They had no steel Subs either , just gold versions. Strange for a Rolex boutique.

Same lack of Rolex steel divers here in Vancouver. And the same with Daytona. A couple months ago, I phoned an AD to inquire about another Rolex model, and before I could even say which model was in question the reply was "You're not asking about the Daytona are you?". I keep looking at the Suunto website. Keenly interested in their watches, mainly because I live in Finland for three years at one time, and still have a lot of association with the country. Unfortunately, with my lifestyle, I am not involved in any of the activities the watches are designed for. Incredible list of complications on those models, though!
