Okay guys, the famous WWF Modded Monster wouldn't run longer than 5 hours with a full wind so it's finally been sent off to COSERV for probably the first service ever. Instructions were to service the movement only and change the engine so let's see how they handle one of their own that's been cosmetically altered a bit. I've always been happy with their service. Price has been reasonable and they offer a factory warranty. Kind of a sleeper place for service when you score that old Seiko from Ebay or off Craigslist. If they service it, I expect it back in about 3 weeks. Reports will be filed on a timely basis.

I miss that watch. Lots of style but still a Monster at heart. That said those movements are cheap (<$50) so why not a movement swap rather than service?

I think it may work out to the same overall cost.

Well, it's official, Seiko will not service the official WWF Monster. With a modded case and dial along with a non standard bracelet, they're not able to warranty servicing the movement. Got a pretty good kick out of that. Looks like I'll pick up a new movement and maybe try my skills at replacing it myself.

I'm sure there are many local people that can do it. Worst case, pick up a non monster that has the same movement and just have a watchmaker drop it in.
Or, but I don't know if it would fit, pick up a turtle and drop that movement in. It would certainly not be cost effective though.

Well, after a very long wait, I have finally the watch back. For some reason, CoServ addressed the package incorrectly and it was returned to them as undeliverable. Rather than call me they just tossed it on the shelf. When I finally called them the gal took care of it. She couldn't understand the SNAFU either. So I'll be looking to either send it off for a movement or consider popping a new movement in myself. Since I don't play in the sandbox as much as some, does anyone have a favorite Seiko guy? Thanks much.

I'm reaching out to a guy I know in Colorado Springs. Will let you know what I hear back. Here's what I got back from Terry at Toxic Natos: "Honestly for basic swaps and mods I always refer people to Duarte at NEWW. He is fast/cheap/and great customer service. You can't beat him. Tell him I sent you. His email is milwatch@gmail.com"

aerome - I just re-read the original post and something caught my eye. You said it won't run longer than 5 hrs with a full wind. If I recall correctly, it has a 7S26 movement which doesn't hand wind. I think hand winding came with the next gen monsters. EDIT: I checked my e-mails with Al and yes, it has a 7S26 movement so it doesn't hand wind. A new movement was put in March 2012.

Roger, I meant to imply after a full day on the winder. I've watched it slowly get worse.
