Walking past a Rolex AD today, I noticed they had a GMT White Gold Pepsi in the window. One day I have to actually go in and try it on. I think that it may just be my favorite Rolex, even though I don't want a movable ceramic bezel. And never really been a fan of white gold because I always thought it looks so steel-like. Not so on this watch. I know that I mentioned it before, but there is just something about the white gold/pepsi bezel/black dial combination that just sparkles. I have never seen a photo, though, that really portrays that look. It is something that has to be seen in real life. Two facts that I did not know about the Rolex GMT and, in particular this model. Quote from "Wristview's Top 5 Watches From Rolex": "The GMT-Master watches were designed to accompany Pan-Am flight staff on their travels.... There’s also the Pepsi bezel which has been given an interesting security feature. In order to prevent people purchasing this bezel and putting it on their steel watch, the ratchet system inside this bezel is a different size to that on the steel watch, so they will not fit, clever right?" I had no idea about either Pan-Am or the security feature on this model. Here is a link to the full article: wristreview.com/wristreviews-top-5-watches-rolex/?mc_cid=21db2dfb4d&mc_eid=b4938cf53bAfter seeing this watch again, I had to come home and do more research on it.

It's certainly better in real life, and it does not look at all like steel.
I remember having Robb's on loan, and walking into my normal watering hole. The guys asked what I'm wearing today, and when I raised my wrist one said "I've seen you wear that one before", thinking BLNR. A few seconds later he said "wait... why is it so damn shiny??". LOL.
I've known about the Pan Am connection for a long time, and the blue red comes from their corporate colours.
As far as the safety features, they supposedly do that with the everose YM as well, by using a different lug location that would prevent a everose rolex bracelet from fitting on it.
They are weird that way.

They are weird that way. Very interesting. A bit weird, yes, but it somehow makes the gold ones a bit more special, other than the fact that they are precious metal. I am bound and determined to get a gold Rolex one day. Your YM is also a model I love, and have seen in real life. One of my very favorites is the 60th Anniversary Everose Day Date with the Rolex green dial and President bracelet, but all that Everose gold on my wrist might make me uncomfortable. The white gold GMT has a subtlety that goes with it's sparkle that I find very appealing. And I do like the PCLs on that one as well.

It's such a nice watch! As you know the GMT is pretty much my favourite (ok, and the new Sea-Dweller) but they're the ideal watch(es) in my opinion (Rolex).

carl - WG has been my PM standard for that reason - want to wear without attracting the attention gold can draw, but the RG YM is more subtle due to all the black. I think both are great options.

It is certainly noticeable to anyone who looks for more than a second or has a sharp eye. However most people will not know, which I prefer. I do love the white gold GMT, but the white gold daytonas do not do it for me.

I'd have to sell an Aston Martin to get one.

Better resale as well. Ouch! I didn't mean that in a bad way LOL. If it came across that way, I'm sorry, it's not how I intended it.
