What I saw out in the wild today was a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in Everose gold with the Everose gold bracelet. A guy sitting at the next table where my friend and I were having coffee overheard us talking about watches, Rolex and Patek Philippe. He joined in, and showed up his new acquisition. I only wish that I had my camera with me!
Thought about you, Ron. Just wonder if you have ever tried one of those or seen one in real life? Might be a consideration for you, not as a resale, but as a keeper.

I see the gold Daytonas all the time when I visit Baron & Leeds and Traditional Jewelers every Thanksgiving day holiday weekend and in December when I take my yearly pilgrimage. The only two watches I like are my all gold Rolex Submariner-Date and the Day-Date 40 in platinum. I'm wearing my two tone Submariner now, and it is a really beautiful watch, but I'm so spoiled with the all gold one that I will never go back. I have been wearing Rolex watches now for 40 years and the only comments I'm getting are on the all gold one. My banker, my auto technician, my dental hygienist all notice my all gold Submariner.

Since I have such a good relationship with my AD, I was thinking of buying the Rolex ceramic Daytona. What price can I get if I sell it new. Then I can sell my Rolex Submariner-Date for around $9,800.00. Then I will not take a loss. The price I paid for the Two Tone was $10,720.00. I just got an offer of $9,500.00 on watchuseek, but I think he was pulling my leg, a real scam artist. The one I want is the Rolex Style No: 116500 in stainless steel. Forgive me for being blunt, but is it always about making a profit for you? We all know you are wealthy-at least from your comments on this page-but I am and have been friends with people who have much more money than all of us here combined and I never hear about their net worth from any of them. You bought a watch that you didn’t even want to make a profit, bravo on you, did you ever think for one moment in offering it as a discount to someone here-not me I think they’re hideous-at a bit of a discount so that they could enjoy it. It’s not always about how much you make, sometimes a bit of humility goes a long way. No offense meant in this post, I’m sure you’re a wonderful person.

If I sell the watch to a forum member for $12,400.00 and in a few years they sell it for a profit, where does it leave me? It's like pulling teeth to sell my Two Tone Submariner-Date for $9,800.00. I don't see any forum member offering me $9,800.00 let alone $10,720.00 for what I paid for it. For your information, some of my assets are in trust to a local charity after my demise.

I get both sides here. I’ve done that once. I was on a list for a white Daytona, I didn’t bond with it. Sold it to a “friend” for retail, which is what I paid for it, and the “friend” sold it not long after that for a nice profit. I must say I wasn’t pleased with that, but it was his watch to do as he wishes. It is what it is. As far as the Daytona being hideous, that’s just an opinion. Many here have it, and love it, and it’s a Grail Watch for a lot of people. I’m sure some don’t like beat up vintage pieces, but they don’t call them hideous, because you like them. And because they respect your opinion, and you. Everyone here was kind and supportive in your vintage endeavours, even if it wasn’t their cup of tea, so to refer to the Daytona as hideous is a bit rude in my humble opinion.

Where's a virtual woodshed when you need one? Steve was out of line, I agree on that and think it's fair to call him out on it. That said, let's move on and take the high road moving forward. What say you?

I missed the delivery today by 30 minutes. I will pick it up tomorrow at the post office and take some photos of it in the watch coffin, untouched by human hands and post it up for sale for $21,000.00, then lock it up in my safety deposit box at Chase bank. I will try for $21,000.00 until new years day 2019. What do you guys think of that scenario?
