I did NOT see this one coming!!
Excellent choice. You’ve had a soft spot for the Zenith, and I think this addresses some of the design elements you weren’t a huge fan of.
Congratulations!

Nice choice! Congrats, Roger! carl had a pretty good guess! Yeah, I messaged Carl after he nailed it so he was the only one who knew. I was all set on finding an entry level chrono but none of them were hitting all the marks, and then I saw aquajoe's post in the WRUW thread at the end of the week and remembered how I felt the first time I saw the Squadron - it checked all the boxes and was cheap, so not a big deal if the love wears off down the road.

So glad you found the right one! It's quite the process and I'm going through it now for my next as well.
I really like the exhibition case back and movement decoration. Simple yet ideal in my books. Even if it had no finishing at all I could appreciate seeing the movement at work and rotor moving. That's one of the boxes I need to check as well!

Great lume! Looks blue, at least on my phone it does.

Congrats Roger. That’s one of those versatile watches that look good on many different straps.

Great choice, Roger! Nothing at all that I dislike about this one, although I think it would be better with a solid case back. I think you might get more wear out of it, and grow more fond of it over the long term than you think. You can have a great time with all kinds of straps, too. Congratulations, Carl

Saw this on IG.
Love the details on this one Roger! I agree the lume looks blue too which is very cool if that’s the case. Congrats!

Thanks KLANGE - I think it’s a great value at $599 and damn, Helson’s shipping was FAST! I placed the order Saturday afternoon and it was here Tuesday morning from Hong Kong! rw16610 and traditionguy - The lume is SuperLuminova BGW9 which is 95% as bright as C3 (the brightest) and has a white color during the day (C3 is off white) and a blue tint when charged. carbon6 and @muckmark - I put it on a green NATO that Chip had sent me temporarily - looks great but has polished hardware and the Squadron is brushed. I have another darker green and tan NATO on the way with brushed hardware and I might look for those colors in canvas straps as well if the NATO colors look good on it. carl - yeah I think Helson should have at least decorated the rotor with a display back or gone solid and done some engraving there. Laurie tried it on with the NATO and liked it. It’s the biggest she ever tried on and hung over her wrist a bit but I thought it looked good on her too. Kind of how it’s fun to see her wearing my dress shirts - way too big but looks hot.
