More new GSes: Grand Seiko just announced two very cool new limited edition GMTs in what's turning out to be a banner year for the complication. The first is this new SBGM235, a 9S66-based model with an incredible textured dial. The motif includes symbols from Daini, one of the two historic GS studios. The 39.5mm SBGM235 is expected to cost $5,300 and should be available in November of this year. It also comes with an additional white croc strap. 1,000 will be made, and you can pre-order yours by clicking the image above. The next model is a limited edition of the extremely popular SBGE001/SBGE201, now featuring a dark red sunburst dial with gold accents. It looks amazing. As you might expect, this uses the 9R66 spring drive movement, and retains some of the great features of its regular production counterparts, like the sapphire bezel with luminescent numerals. The 44mm SBGE245 is expected to cost $6,100, and should be available either in November of December this year. Like the SBGM235, this also comes with an additional strap, in this case an orange silicone band. Only 600 of these will be made, and you can pre-order by clicking the image above.

Me too, although I'm more fond of the SBGM235.

Me too, although I'm more fond of the SBGM235. Fully agree with you. The bezel on the spring drive is way too blingy IRL for me.

Not in my opinion. Once you set the time, to adjust the date, you use the GMT hand to set the date. It jumps in 1 hr increments and can be moved forward or backwards to advance or reduce the date to get to the desired date. It’s pretty fast once you get use to it - less than 30 sec to get to the date you want to be at. You mean jump the hour hand? Rolex and all other proper GMT watches don’t jump the GMT hand. Correct sir. I haven’t had much sleep the last few days with the quick trip to Los Alamos.

I think this is a great idea. But I have to agree with Chip. When I saw the first pic, I loved the dial and the yellow accents, EXCEPT the yellow crescent on the bottom half of the dial.
GS has come out with some stunning quartz watches. However, having owned a couple of previous models, I think they are now at the point where they are pricing themselves out of the market. $3200USD - $3500USD is well over 4 grand in Canadian funds. My first Grand Seiko was an SBGX069 at $2600CAD, at the time was a bit outrageous for a quartz, even though it is a GS. It is still a beautiful watch, but it is the maximum I would be willing to pay for a quartz watch, even realizing the build quality that GS does put in their watches.

The crescent seems to be a lot more subtle IRL.
