This is posted in “the Art of Time” subforum and it shows not all art is good art.
So I saw this video on another forum and if what they are presenting is true, it’s shocking!
The original owner had and issue with the watch stopping and since it was a $700 watch from Italy, he sent it to a local watchmaker in the US for repair instead of sending it back across the pond. What the watchmaker found was really shocking.
Starting with the BPH designation on the back of the watch - it was wrong, not just for the movement, but the math didn’t work for any movement. Okay, chalk that up to a QC error when someone reviewed the text for engraving.
Next, removing the caseback found why the movement was stopping - a plastic spacer was used to try to hold the movement in place, but it’s not standard and wasn’t designed for the watch/case. When the caseback is screwed down, the plastic deforms and stops the rotor. Next as the watchmaker tried to figure out why they’d use such a spacer, he finds the case wasn’t designed for a Seiko movement, but for a Miyota!
If all this is true, then this a bad hack job from a company that should know better. What do you guys think? Real? Maybe the owner bought it second hand and the original owner replaced the movement to flip it after it got damaged? I think I’m leaning towards this last option. But that is one of their dials and those are usually made to fit the movement/case too, so it’s a real mystery.

I’ll have to reply to this from a computer. Tapatalk encourages brevity.
