Always LOVED the look of the Carbontech but have always wondered what your options would be if you gouged it on something. It’s not like SS that could be laser welded.

Well, I have seen the Breitling carbon fiber on their Avenger Hurricane. It does seem very durable. And as it's not a coating, I wouldn't worry too much. But it's still a relatively new material, so I am a bit suspicious. Took me forever to get used to, and accept, ceramic as a watch part.
You know me, I don't usually comment on, or discuss prices. But I personally do not see the justification for this high a price. Although it's a relative to what a person is willing to pay which, in the end, is really no business of mine. However, when I do the conversion of the regular model to Canadian funds, we are looking at well over 26 grand. That is about a grand away from the gorgeous Everose Gold Rolex Yacht Master I was looking at about a week ago. And around the price for a brand new AP Royal Oak. It is a no-brainer which of those I would rather have!
As a comparison, the Breitling Avenger Hurricane in Breitlight is around $7500USD. Maybe I am ignorant of the differences, if any, between the Breitling material and the Panerai material, however.
On one hand, I am not surprised. Richemont being the parent company, as it is with IWC. And I have seen some models over there that I feel are insanely overpriced.
Just my thoughts. I am obviously not going to be putting down a deposit or putting my name on a waiting list!
Cheers, Carl
edit: I just read the review on Monochrome. Seems that these prices are in Euros and not USD. So that means more like 22,000USD for the non-LE model
