At this point, I can say it would be the Rolex Submariner No Date 114060. That is pretty reasonable for me. It is pretty well perfect for my lifestyle. It's not too big and not too small. Anything 42mm and over, or 36mm and under, I know that I would crave a larger or smaller watch to wear at some time. Also, the Sub is a sports/diver watch with class, and good to wear with dressier clothes. I realize it is not a dress watch in the true meaning of the word, but times have changed and what is considered dressy has become very subjective. In my world, the Sub would be appropriate to wear in any occasion. I think it's great that Rolex has left it at 40mm. It is very well engineered to have a WR of 300m and yet it's only 13mm thick. A short while ago, I was intent on the Omega Aqua Terra midsize. Compared to the Rolex Sub, though, there were a couple of little nagging doubts I had about the watch, which is why I would choose the Rolex. Let's hear what you other guys would choose. Cheers Carl

Tough question for an enthusiast...lol...but having had a really good watch for many years, I agree a Rolex for me, as for as the model that really doesn't matter much, as you say with the times, there are many watches that could double as a dress watch. In fairness to other brands there are many out there that IMO would qualify, something around the same size, could be a little less sporty, but not to dressy.

That's a tough 1! Think most of us would either say a Rolex or the Speedy Pro.

I would say this one if it's got to be from my current stable. I don't wear it that often, but I think Rolex did everything right with this one (although the PCL's could be debated.)

Until I change my mind to some other "If I could only have one watch," it would be this one here:

I'm not sure I could do it and if it were "any watch I could afford" then I'd have to do some serious thinking and research. As for "any watch in my current collection", it's between the Rolex Sea Dweller and the Blancpain Trilogy GMT... And between these two, I'd probably keep the Blancpain.

Without a shadow of a doubt this one... Had a GTG with Ian today. First coffee, then to a Rolex AD, where he said he had a "surprise" for me. Indeed! When I first saw the watch, I thought he was joking! I was surprised the Sales Associate could keep a straight face. Yet, when it was on, it looked absolutely perfect! Hard to believe, but it suited Ian perfectly. What else can I say? Stunning! Cheers Carl

Cheers Carl.. I quite like this one as well Hi Ian, Personally, I would go for the gold Day-Date. But I have to admit, the Daytona had it's "own personality". Hey, if I win at Lotto this weekend, the choice is yours! Now, as far as the Daytona goes: What if we meet up downtown and look for a pair of shoes to match? Cheers Carl

I hear you, Aerome. If any of us had ONE favorite, we wouldn't be on this forum. Also, I chose a watch that I DO own. Why fantasize about those that are out of reach, financially, when there are SO many beautiful attainable pieces? I also have a great interest in boutique brands, and they are a valued part of my collection. My three Omegas are amongst my favorites, with my new Speedy, pictured above, edging out my AT, and PO, at the moment. It shall remain on my wrist, today, in case I want to argue with a ref's call of "delay of game", with hard evidence to back me up. KAT

My choice would probably be a - - - - - - - uh, well, I mean, but wait, no, on the other hand, er, - - - - Sorry gang, can't answer that! Difficult to answer, I agree. Even after I answered "Sub No Date 114060", I took a friend out for his birthday to a very high-end restaurant. I was wearing my Rolex Explorer I. Even after 3 years owning it, I kept glancing at it. It turns out that it's a beautiful dress watch, and also earlier I was wearing it with jeans, t-shirt and old leather coat. Although it's only 36mm, it still has a great wrist presence. A beautiful polished black dial. It really made me start to think..... No anti-reflective finish on either insided or outside of the crystal. Simple. Sporty. Elegant. Nothing superfluous. Perhaps the triangle marker at 12 o'clock and the Mercedes hour hand might give it away as a sportier model, they are such small details that they are overlooked at the quickest glance. In this day and age, and the way society has changed, it has become very subjective indeed as to what is dressy and what is not. Cheers Carl
