I thought I would update you all with some of the database features open to non members, members do have a few added privileges. Apart from finding out about upcoming events, and general news, additionally you can search three important ways:
1) Museum Collection - basically search my manufacturer or by a keyword like automatic wristwatch, alarm even size or jewel count!
2) Library - Title or Author or Subject.
3) NAWCC Publications and Bulletins.
To-days thread (part 1)will cover 'Museum collection'.
First searching for Museum Collection i.e. items within the museum collection.
The main page is here:
From here click on 'MUSEUM' tab
Then 'Museum Collection'-->'Search the Collection'
Then:
Click the GRAPHIC below to access the National Watch & Clock Museum Collection Database
Should bring you here:
Type in either a company name - like Gallet. Clicking on a picture enlarges it and clicking on the description gives all the details and pictures i.e.
'Gallet'
Wristwatch - Gallet (for full details- all 11 images are now shown with description)
You can also manipulate round by previous/next record and 'advanced searches'
You can also search by 'key words' - like 'automatic wristwatches' See below - NOTE 2 pages (all documented by me!)
Page 1:
Page 2:
Again clicking on the description - will expand that to that timepiece and give full description and all pictures i.e.
To-morrow I will explain Library and NAWCC Bulletin searching
