A lot of folks disagree with you......
Yes he is credited and rightly so for the automatic wristwatch, he did not INVENT IT, he merely improved it to the point it could be marketed. Further research and improvements by other concerns improved it even more to what we have today.. .Harwood is an important and often neglected aspect of the history of the automatic movements.....BUT.....
Saying he invented the automatic movement is like saying Henry Ford invented the car, simply not true.
Nearly Missed this
"did not invent it"?? Then who did? Not Perellet, not Rolex. Perellet invented the automatic pocket watch, Rolex adapted Harwoods invention some 9 yrs later with a rotor.
in that 9 yrs Harwood sold 34,000 pcs!!!!
Please show me any company or person that now does not fully agree that John Harwood was 'THE' inventor of the automatic wristwatch.
The HARWOOD bumper automatic is acknowledged as the 'Genesis' of the automatic watch.
Indeed even Rolex published a retraction admitting (stating) that John Harwood invented the automatic wristwatch
These are the facts, I have even Rolex admission to this!
