Vince Flynn RIP
The author Vince Flynn passed away today. Prostate Cancer age 47. Vince wrote 14 novels, all spy-action type thrillers. I personally have only read one of them, and was a good read. But reason posting this here, is that Vince was a big Panerai aficionado. On many of the back covers of his novels he is pictured wearing various Panerai watches, and sometimes made mention of his leading characters in his books wearing Panerai watches. Because of this he sparked an interest in Panerai watches from many of his fans and readers, who went on to become Panerai wearers themselves. RIP and prayers to his family.
Found this interesting, listening to the Rush Limbaugh show today (please, do not want to get into a political talk about this commentator, some like him, some don't) as he paid tribute to Vince Flynn.
Here is a copy from the transcripts from today's show, of Rush describing one incident he had with Vince and Panerai:
"Every spring at my home we have what's called the Spring Fling. A bunch of us get together for a long weekend of golf and dinner and wine and cigars. The wives are there and it's just terrific. It's a great three- to four-day weekend. Vince would show up every time we had the Spring Fling, and he'd show up with presents for everybody. I'm wearing one of those presents now. I wear it all the time, a watch he gave me, a Panerai Luminor watch. He gave it to me, said it's the best watch going. He told me about the people that made it. He told me that they were friends of his, the finest watch, you won't find one better than this. He stood there and watched while I put it on, smiling."
