Considering how many seconds are in a 24 hour day (86,400) that's nothing short of amazing! These mechanical Swiss Watch movements are crazy. And to think we have come to expect so much of them we at times make a big deal with it's on the minus side too far (still within COSC specs) etc. I absolutely love Rolex watches too I assume this one has been serviced a few times in it's 40 year life either by Rolex or an independent watch maker? The thing that keeps me drawn to mechanical watches is how they always remain the same other than a few minor upgrades like ceramic bezels, chromalight lume etc.

That's very good.
My 107 years old Waltham keeps time to about 1.5 seconds a day while my two Rolexes are the worst timekeepers I have EVER had.
The LV is running about a minute a day fast and the EXP is about 30 seconds fast.
True, a service would probably fix that problem.

That is incredible! Just got a 45 year old vintage Omega. It will be interesting to see how it keeps time. I wouldn't expect that kind of accuracy. Still, my other vintage is less than 1 minute fast in an entire week, so I'm pretty pleased with that. And it's almost 60 years old. Gotta love the Rolexes, though. They barely even look different, as well as keep great time.
Cheers, Carl

Very good timekeeping indeed. My Hamilton 22 chronometer watch is almost seventy years old and is now running about half a second off a day. A high grade and properly adjusted mechanical watch is a simply amazing.
