I was browsing Ebay.co.uk today (they seem to have some nice European vintage watches there) and came across a watch that went right to my heart!
Just something about it. I had not heard of the brand before. Swiss made called Election. The dial is marked Chronometer and it all looks in wonderful condition. The seller sells a lot of watches and has almost 2500 sales and is 100% positive feedback and reading his feedbacks the descriptions he gives are very accurate.
I will probably have to have it serviced though it is keeping excellent time according to the seller. The case has minor wear and the dial looks immaculate and to my eyes not redone.
The movement has 15 jewels and says 3 adus which I guess means adjusted.
I found out this little bit of info on the web before biting the bullet..
"According to Kathleen Pritchard in her master work Swiss Timepiece Makers 1775-1975, small e and the word election were the trade marks of Election SA, from La Chaux Fonds Switzerland and Les Geneveys sur Coffrane. The company was founded in 1850 as A. Braunschweig followed by L. braunschweig and Les Fils De L.Braunschweig etc.
The name was changed to Nouvelle Fabrique Election SA in 1932. They had a wide range of products and did win several awards for quality including a grand prize in the Berne Exhibition of 1914"
So it seems like a good quality brand. but it was the looks that got to me, just loved everything about it. It was not expensive either!
Here are some pictures from the listing, any thoughts or more info would be gratefully received. The case measures 38mm long by 22mm wide (not including crown) looks like rose gold plating to me.
