Just got back from a lovely coffee with me old chum Carl. I should have taken a picture of the table as it was filled with lovely watches!
I have to say Carls Seamaster is a thing of beauty in real life!

Ah, thanks Chip but Carl is so deserving of this, he is a great friend. I love the straps you have on your monster. I think Carl is going to have a lot of fun with straps on his.

Oh, and thanks so much for sorting out the photo. I took it with the air and transferred it directly so could not alter it!

Well, guys, I finally made it home after our GTG with Ian. I couldn't wait to do a post, of course. Still trying to keep the tears out of my eyes! Sometimes, in life, when we can't make up our minds about something, it's better when someone decides for us. In this case, Ian's generosity has found me the new sport watch that I have been looking for! Since my collection is all small watches, I knew the day was going to come when I would have a "big tool, sporty watch withdrawal". I also knew that there is no way I will again spend thousands of dollars on a diver/sports watch as I just know it will get flipped or sold. I honestly didn't really know if a Monster would be the one, and I certainly couldn't make up my mind about dial colour. There has been so much hype on the forum lately, though, that it certainly was a possibility. I looked at a lot of beautiful watches under a grand, most of which I could not see in person, so that made it more difficult. Little did I know that when Ian brought along his Monster today, that it would end up being mine! Now, I have to be very honest: I really don't like other people, even close friends and family, selecting or gifting me clothing or jewellery. I can never remember any clothing or jewellery that has been gifted to me, that I have really liked or ended up wearing. Well, I can say quite honestly that this Monster is going to be the exception! I absolutely love the orange dial. And the icing on the cake is the lovely green hue given off by the lume in the daylight (not to mention the incredible lume in the dark). It really stands out beautifully on the orange dial, and gives the watch somewhat of a vintage touch. It's really the Cat's Ass, as a buddy of mine would say. Now that I see this model in person, I think that I would like it even better than the new one. Of course, being a gift from a Dear Friend makes it that much more special. Had to stop off on the way home and take some pics in the front yard. I wanted the greenish hue on the fence to show up against the watch case. I think that a dark green NATO with this would look absolutely brilliant! I must say though that the black rubber band does look fantastic as well. This Monster will be proudly worn on my wrist at the pub tonight. I hope you enjoy the pics. I really think they show the dial beautifully and the lovely greenish lume, which is definitely one of the things I like best about this watch: Thanks again, Ian! Hope you realize how much I appreciate your gesture I am having a toast to you right now with a nice dram of Bushmills Irish Whiskey. Cheers Carl

They really are the best bang for the buck out there - PERIOD. The bezel rotates with precision and silkiness like none other I've handled at any price. And you are right about the orange dial - it is something to behold in person. I love my new black monster, but there is a lingering thought running through my mind asking if I should have gone orange again just for something unique in the collection.
Enjoy it in the best of health.

Oh mate, your pictures really show the OM off really well, so happy you like it, it could not have gone to a better home! Great thing with this watch is you can have several glasses of bush mills and still be able to read the dial!! I love how the bezel protects the glass as well!

Well, I do love the sunken crystal as well! The whole watch is so well designed. I just can't get over how much I am enjoying it on my wrist. It really is going to be a lot of fun changing out the straps. At the moment, I am trying to locate that lovely black leather Hirsch strap that I bought for the Hamilton from Time & Gold when you were with me. cheers, Carl
