So at the price point Rolex is listing this new white gold ceramic Pepsi GMT for (~$32k USD), I ask assuming you had the money to buy it without breaking the bank: Would you rather buy it or something else from one of the haute horology brands like ALS, AP, or VC? That kind of money opens one up to true horological craftsmanship and for me it's an easy answer. What about you?

I'm into SS watches only at this time. But, if I were into gold... Yeah, I'd buy it.
I simply love the design, quality, and history of Rolex watches. I sometimes hate the brand recognition because I could care less if anyone knows what I'm wearing, but I love their watches

A Patek would be gracing my wrist. It is a beauty though, but at that price I would be looking elsewhere. Wonder if in a couple of years it will come out in SS or will they bring it out in TT, I hope it's the former, it would at least give me a chance of owning one.

And I reckon its going to be nearer the $40K mark Roger looking at the premium they charge for WG on the Sub. If I had this sort of money set aside for my luxury watch purchase, the special one if you like I don't think it would be this one.
I love it and if I had the readies to have this as a second or third watch I would be all over it but no! This is the way my mind is going. Buy gently used, that way I could get a mint old style pepsi to feed the craving and have enough left over for a mint Patek,VC, AP or such.
If though it had to go all on one watch and assuming I am right on price then right now at Swiss Luxury I could get a Rose Gold Patek Nautilus with Moonphase and power reserve for $40k wire price brand new, In other words a complicated Patek for the same money! Or a pink gold on bracelet AP like yours for another thousand!
It would have to be precious metal at this price point for me as well. I could not justify Stainless at this money

Not only because of the pricing, but I like the more subtle bezel better too. It serves the day/night function well, without drawing unnecessary attention like the high contrast red/blue. Heck, I like the blue/black better than the Coke too. I think of all three, you selected the best looking one.

Don't get me wrong, I do love a nice Pepsi bezel, but I am completely satisfied with my BLNR. And now that I have a classic 16710 also, I can satisfy that Pepsi itch. I was just talking to my wife this past weekend ( I think she was listening but not sure) and told her that IF Rolex released a stainless Pepsi that I would probably would NOT flip my BLNR for it. I love the blue/black so much.. She promptly told me "you better not"...... The point of my story is that I have owned just about every SS sports model Rolex there is (some of them multiple times) and the BLNR is the only one my wife has said to please never sell! She thinks it's the best looking watch I have ever owned.

If I had that sort of cash to spend, I'd definitely be looking at something from the Haute brands.

It depends. In my current financial state, if somebody was to give me 40k to buy a watch, that's not even in my top ten. I'd go Patek or Lange.
If I was loaded and I already had all the other watches I wanted in that price range... Sure. Why not?

For me I would run and never look back with either this: or All images from Google. That chunk of change also gets you a VERY nice Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin. Oh yeah, or a great Ulysse Nardin. That GMT's a nice piece but I was never a fan of the white gold Rolex watches. I couldn't spend that much on a watch that has absolutely no hand finishing, diamonds or is a limited piece. I'm more the type who would walk out of the AD with several steel models first or something in Yellow gold if not the watches shown above in my post. For the person with everything else I could totally see why they would want that new GMT.

It's interesting to hear some of these opinions on gold watch prices from a different perspective. As you may recall, I was strongly considering a WG DeVille when I was searching for my next big purchase. I got a lot of feedback that while the blue hands were beautiful and only available on the WG model, most would not pay that premium for WG with the Omega.
Here, it seems a bit split with Rolex vs Omega. Most seem to still be saying no, but a higher percentage saying they would consider it. Which IMHO shows the brand loyalty (and implied resale value confidence) with Rolex vs Omega.
