I thought I would post a review of this strap which I ordered a couple of weeks ago from a seller on eBay which arrived today.
One of the main reasons for the review is the surprise at the level of quality and attention taken in the whole buying experience when you consider the cost of the strap!
From excellent communications with Andreas the maker of the strap to the superb value of said strap and to finally seeing it in the flesh and realizing what a bargain this strap is compared to others which are offered by other custom makers out there.
I purchased the strap from this seller on eBay, www.ebay.ca/usr/andreasmario916?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
Andreas is based in Sacramento in California. When I found his store I asked him if he offered any other colours other than the black he showed.
He responded almost immediately and said that he had the Cordovan brown in stock and also other thread colours which included the natural on mine, a pale green or black. All Irish Linen.
He confirmed that the leather was Horween Cordovan and that he could offer a custom made strap for the same cost as the lower priced black strap he has for sale on eBay which is $39 though I see he has raised his price another $10 for that strap.
I did not know what I was buying apart from the pictures I had seen. When it arrived it was much better than I ever expected!
To put this strap in context other custom hand made in the USA Horween Cordovan straps are anywhere from $120 and up and though I have not seen those straps in person this one looks equally as well made.
The strap arrived in a padded envelope and when I opened it the strap was wrapped in brown paper with a lovely bow of hemp string sealing it.
The leather has a lovely waxy quality to it and the brown a deep reddish hue. Very nice spring bars and nice simple stainless buckle complete the picture.
The stitching as you can see in the pictures is first class and beautifully done. The Cordovan is thick and yet so supple, no break in required and it has lovely shading when bended, you can feel this strap is going to last a very long time and take on a lovely patina with age.
I feel confident in recommending Andreas and his straps from this experience. I know this will not be the last strap I purchase from him!
To end, some pictures of the strap attached to my Fellow Chronograph, a wonderful match I think!
Also, obviously I have no connection with Andreas other than being a very happy customer!
What your greeted with when the envelope is opened..
The strap before fitting with a close up of the natural Irish linen stitched. The loop is riveted together for additional strength.
This shows how thick the strap is.
On the watch..
And finally, a wrist shot..
