Hey, guys! Lately, Ian has picked up some awesome vintage pieces, and he always seems to find the bargains. So, I went trawling on Ebay the other night, and something about this one struck me. I did not expect to win it, but I did. I know absolutely nothing about the brand. I just went on gut instinct. It has the classic vintage diver look and a super compressor case. Looks to be in good shape, too. It's small, but on me, that's O.K..... Here is one of seller's pics: KAT

I like that, it reminds me of the Longines diver. What size strap is that?

Well done, Kat! Love the styling of this watch. It's ok, we all end up buying something off eBay this way sooner or later At times I try avoid even looking there for this reason with little luck!

Chip, I believe the lug width to be 18mm, since it is listed as a 34 mm watch, but there is no info on the listing re: lug width. Here is a pic of the case back, which is way cool: Kat

Oh Kat, you have caught a stunner there! Its fun isn't it, trawling eBay and finding little pockets of goodness and then swoop down upon them and win them for peanuts! I love the obscure brands as well. I was in the vintage watch store today, a subject I shall start a thread on in a little while, A'hmm, and they loved the Fellow! I just did a quick look at the Tradition watch brand name was registered in 1954 by Sears & Roebuck. Apparently this was their top tier watch brand and have a really great reputation. Its a beauty Kat, a real humdinger, The lume is in beautiful original shape and the whole watch has that lovely lived in but not abused look. You can tell this was a watch that was either purchased originally by someone who knew the value of a buck and looked after things or it was a very special gift for someone who looked after it all its years. Its watches like this that make all the effort of the search worthwhile. I must admit, you beat me to it as well as I got something rather special from eBay and at a bargain price but had to wait till today to get the invoice to pay it as they had to calculate shipping from India. Not to steal your thunder but I will show it here as I think it just shows what one can get if you persevere and keep a good eye on on eBay as you have so brilliantly done with your beautiful watch. I saw for a buy it now price of $49 an immaculate and all original, never been restored Seiko manual wind dress watch that just oozes class I think. The kicker was after punching in the case back number into the Seiko age database it turned out to have been made in May 1963! Another birth year watch and I have wanted a vintage Seiko for so long. Its on the small side but all my watches are now at 33mm but its a beaut. I hope you don't mind me posting a picture here. This is from the seller also! Congratulations again Kat, I am so glad your joining in on this eBay vintage fun, come on folks, join in!

Thanks, Ian. From the little bit I could find about the brand, it probably has an A. Schild 17 jewel movement, as it is a hand cranker. Seller offers a 14 day return, no questions asked, so I felt comfortable bidding. I may have overpaid, or underpaid. I don't know. It was the obscure brand name, the super compressor case, Swiss movement, and overall aesthetic look that grabbed me. Also, it runs well, and looks really good, I think.

daveathall was extremely kind to send me some NATO straps but they are 18mm and they don't fit any of my watches. I'd be more than happy to pass some your way if you are interested. They just arrived. Sent using Tapatalk Pro on Samsung Galaxy S5

Kat I think your right Kat from what I can see. Not sure what you paid but I saw a really rough one in need of a new crystal, non working and pretty beaten up go for $65 but it was a basket case! The great thing is that though the name is obscure its heritage is superb Sears and Roebuck watches are really collectable and their top range ones such as yours have a stunning reputation for being really great watches. I reckon you got a corker of a watch there! Chip, that is a really lovely thing for you to do. I have given my two spare ones away otherwise I would have offered Kat one, Good on Dave as well, what a champ you are mate!

Thanks, Chip. I would be happy to to have a few Natos, from Dave, as I know they are the real deal. Thank you, Chip, and thank you, Dave. Ian, I paid 2 hundie, as my daughter likes to say. Ebay is weird, if you think about how the auctions work. I always place a max bid, several, days before an auction ends, and never vary from that. Then, near the end, some yahoo bids it up to $2.00 below that, and then bows out. Therefore, I am the one who decided the ultimate worth of this piece, if that makes any sense to anyone. Weird. Truth be told, I have no idea the actual value of this watch.
