Wanted one of the first generation Seiko digitals for so long and this evening spying eBay I saw a gold plated one in really good shape. The head is immaculate and there is a small amount of gold plate wear on the bracelet but nothing much and I have a plating place literally 6 blocks from where I am so I can easily get it re-plated if I decided to. These things in this condition usually go for at least a couple of hundred bucks, I won it for $36!! I love late Friday nights on eBay, whilst everyone is out on the town you can get some real bargains! Should be here in a couple of weeks and I am so glad to have a watch from the start of digital in the 70's, this one was made in 1976. Here is a shot from the seller, the glass does not have a scratch on it and the head is pretty much mint!

Man Ian, you will need a long colored shirt unbuttoned to the navel and some gold chains as accessories when you go pimping around town with that one! That's a cool throwback piece and totally screams 70's.

Love it Roger! I seem to be really into the seventies vibe lately. Been thinking a lot lately about life and things and the seventies for me have the happiest memories so far, so many great things happened and I think its nice to reconnect in a physical way to bring those memories alive even more.
Plus I have this thing about horological landmarks and digital was one of them and Seiko the most famous player back in the day. Been looking for a while but just could not bring myself to spend hundreds on a digital so this was perfect!

Nice Ian, I still remember my first digital, it was an LED on a thick leather bund; loved it. Congratulations.

Thanks Steve, I still have to get an LED for the collection. I really want a Kojak Hamilton though so am waiting for the right one to come up for sale!

My first digital was a Timex Indiglo Ironman. I put that thing through hell for about 5 years before it fogged one day on a drizzley day for no apparent reason.

Those ironmans are virtually indestructible. I think every friend I know who works construction wears one which says a lot !
