Had an opportunity to pick up this Mk. IV Red Sub, and Pete was very helpful in giving me the information on it to help me make the purchase at the right price, so thanks again Pete! I owe you a beer or three!
Of course it needs a service, but here as re some photos "as found"

Now I just need to make some time in my schedule to get it serviced....not easy as I'm swamped, but this might be a "late night" project.
Cheers, Al

Oh man that's a beauty!!!
A red sub is what Rolex needs to put out next, I think it's time.
Beautiful and I can't wait to see it after service.

That is a beauty Al. So glad Pete was able to help. He's a walking encyclopedia when it comes to the vintage reds.

Congratulations, Al! Beautiful vintage Red. I'm sure there is a nice single malt whisky in your cupboard to celebrate with.
Cheers, Carl

What I like about this one is the dial. No chips, no spotting, all minute markers intact, no tritium missing, no blotching on the tritium and the very vivid red text only found on the Mk2 and Mk4 red subs. The hands match the dial markers perfectly too which is hard to find these days.
A beauty of a red sub.

Thanks everyone. Yes I'm pretty excited about this one. The colour of the dial markers and hands is just beautiful, and that as much as the red lettering, sold me on this watch.
Honestly newer Rolex models with gloss dials, gold surrounds, sapphire crystals - they really don't appeal to me at all. But this one or a nice 5513 are really what I like.
Cheers, Al

Al, its a beauty. It has the best patina of the lume material I have seen. So even and consistent and that red really Pops.
I have a request though. I know your swamped and this might be a late night job for you but I would love to see (as I am sure everyone else would) a photo montage of the strip down and reassembly or even a video, that would be spectacular to see this beauty serviced.
