I have been pouring over the Grand Seiko Quartz models a great deal but getting one would mean the Cartier going and I just don't want to do that! So I have been doing some research and ended up at their vintage King Quartz line from the 1970's This period was when Seiko made stunning quartz movements that cost a fortune back then and were really accurate. King Quartz and Grand Quartz became what is now Grand Seiko Quartz. I found and just won for an absolute steal a gorgeous King Quartz made in October 1976. Below are a few pictures from the seller The watch is near mint, some minor marks on the glass crystal but so minor I am blowed if I can see them. The dial looks gorgeous with a stunning basket weave effect and applied Seiko and quartz symbol. Quick Set Day Date in English and Kanji and of course the second hand as you can see hits the applied and printed markers bang on! This is a real piece of history and these early quartz from Seiko are increasing in value all the time, especially these high end ones. Everything is original, crown, King Quartz bracelet and the 9 jewel movement as you can see is immaculate. On these high end ones you can adjust the accuracy with the trimmer as well. Its on its way from HK so will take a few weeks I guess but my photos to follow The Seiko LCD I have is from around the same time as well! See the side profile? Notice it looks (if your familiar with the latest high end Seikos) familiar? One word, Ananta! This case design is in part inspiration for the Ananta's ranges cases.

I've looked at several vintage Seiko's that I like, but I've been scared to buy from anywhere other than the US.... I'll let you be my international advisor. Lol.

You seem to always find the most unique pieces and get them for a bargain. Good work, Ian!

Thanks Guys. I won this for $115 including free shipping. I have not even seen rough examples that cheap on eBay. Doing my due diligence the closest I have found in the same condition is at least another $100 plus shipping.
Very happy with this. Mind, I was also watching an 18k and stainless Credor high accuracy quartz at the same time from 1991 but then I realized the bracelet was a touch too small for me and there is next to no chance of getting a spare link.
That one made me cry though as it was mint with only slight patination on the gold hands. It went for $157 which is astounding when you think that Credor is Seiko's top tier along with Grand Seiko and that it had a solid 18k bezel and solid (not capped ala Breitling!) 18k center links!

Man, winner winner chicken dinner! Ian strikes again. That basket weave dial is a knockout and the condition is amazing. I agree with the others, you have a knack for finding beautiful pieces at ridiculously low prices. Well played sir.

Cheers Roger, I just seem to find them, not sure how as I just search eBay like everyone else. I think I can only put it down to my dear old late mum who knew I loved watches giving me a helping hand from up there! I keep looking at the dial pictures I found on WUS, man I hope all that is currently happening in HK does not delay its arrival!
