Hi Al that is really great to know you have experience in servicing these. Mine is not one of those that the second hand advances in that way mores the pity. I hope your feeling much better now.

Not sure how I missed this until now! Another great watch for your collection, Ian! Loving that dial and the bracelet. Yet another well designed Seiko watch I can't recall ever seeing before your post!

Thanks Rommel. I have a real fascination for the early quartz and battery powered watches and its amazing how many different sorts are out there.
Here is a video I have just uploaded to youtube showing how beautifully the seconds hand works.

ianmedium - the video won't play for me. Neither here, nor directly on YouTube?

Nada, just spins like it's trying to load the video. I'm on the PC too - not the iPad.

That dial looks SO nice. How long do the batteries typically last in these watches?

Thanks Roger and Rommel. Glad you got it running in the end Roger, strange that it won't work on the PC. From what I have found out battery life is two years. Its an easy thing to do though as the battery is accessed through a hatch that can be opened with a coin!

You know... It's damn near refreshing to see a second hand that lines up with all the markers.
My Astron is the same way. I'll do a movie shortly.

Brilliant Chip, I am looking forward to seeing your Astron in Action. I think the biggest problem have with the ticking quartz hand is that it does not line up with the markers or there is a lot of lash in it so it waves around on each movement. When its done well like this or your Astron it actually feels rather relaxing to watch it in action I find!

A couple of photo's of the sides of the case, just look at A. the depth of the finish and B. the cut lines on the design.
