Now who's the enabler!! My favourtie is the high beat special, those concentric wavy lines are mesmorising and it looks even better with the contrast of the black croc strap. thanks so much for showing these Chip!

The special is awesome and a LE of just 300. It's tiny, 38mm with 19mm strap, but I think it's perfect for a dress watch. It ain't cheap though!! The GS in Ti with the GS patters dial is really great in person and nothing I did captured that dial right. Dan said he will be getting a SS version of it, which costs almost 2k less. Both those dials are stunning. Seiko really pushes the boat out when it comes to dials. I don't think I have seen better apart from AP and other haute Horology watches. Certainly nothing in the GS's price range. I saw this the other day. Credor, it's stunningly beautiful platinum limited edition and gives a nod of homage and respect to Phillipe Dufour's watchmaking all have been sold now and I believe they were going for around the 50K mark. hand painted porcelain dial. Just gorgeous. Here is a great blog with lots of pictures and more info peter-chong.blogspot.ca/2010/07/credor-by-seiko-eichi.html

You know... Philippe Dufour was hired by Seiko as a consultant about ten years ago to provide guidance in the area of movement and dial finishing.
If I remember correctly Dufour has a watch with a similar wave design.

I did not know that Chip. I know he is big in Japan, I think he said something like 145 of the 200 simplicities went to Japanese collectors. Thinking on it the connection is appropriate as he has quite a Japanese philosophy on what beauty is all about. I bet one of these ended up with him!

To be more specific, he consulted for seiko's Micro Arts department.
That's the department that does the design of dials and movement, along with finishing.

There is a lot to like in those GS model including the dials and fit/finish details, but one thing has been bugging me and I just figured it out. It's the style of the hands - Dauphine I believe. It's so stark and lacking in character. It reminds me a bit of the simple stick hands on my Nomos. Loved the simplicity initially, but then began to want for more.

That's rather interesting, I had no idea! Great looking watches by the way. I'm digging the movement finishing / designs.
