Hey! I bought this watch in the early '70's at the duty free in Miami airport. I've worn it almost every day for half my life. I've searched the Googles for info on finding a new band for it because after 40 some odd years it's shot. The watch was originally stainless steel but I had ir gold plated 20 years ago because it was looking worn. It still runs well except for gaining about a minute a week. The beveled cut crystal is still like new, without a scratch. Any advice would help.

Welcome to the forum! It's hard to identify the model from this photo, do you have something sharper? Based on this photo, it looks like a proprietary design bracelet. That can make it tougher to find a replacement, especially if the watch was never made in gold plated color. ianmedium is the resident Seiko expert and he should be around shortly and chime in.

That'll be tough to match because of the aftermarket plating. If you can find the right band, you'll have to get them both plated again to match up.
If you can't find a NOS band, you might just put in a search on e-Bay for the Seiko Model 6309-8049 and see if a broken one pops up to buy it just for the band.
Welcome to the forum.

Looks dead on Chip! $45 is a great deal. I wonder if the coating on the case could be easily removed and the case refinished. I think I read somewhere that you can soak off PVD in hydrogen peroxide overnight - movement removed from the case of course - but that may have been DLC, not PVD. EDIT: Yes, they can but it isn't cheap. internationalwatchworks.com/dlcpvd-faqs/

Wow, you guys are great! I reckon you have it spot on Chip. These faceted crystal Seiko's are wonderful and usually had some really bright colored dials as in this case.
If you look on the case back you will see a six digit serial number. If you could post that number as well as the four digit number to the left of six O'clock I will be able to determine which year it was made but I reckon Chip has the model spot on!
I am going to look through my 1970's catalogs now to see if I can find it! OH, And welcome to the forum!

Looking at the one Chip showed which I reckon is the same then your looking around manufacture in 1976.
I have looked through all my catalogs but cannot find the exact match.
