Now if I can just get over that name on the dial... I won't lie, it's the one thing that keeps me away from one. (Other than a lack of money of course)

Oh good, part two is out! Off to read it, thanks Chip. I have to go to a local Mall tomorrow and the jeweler there stocks GS so of course I have to stop in and take a look!

Oh man, that makes me so want a GS! And just think, Phillipe Dufours are almost impossible to buy so you could get the Echii with Dufour DNA. I love that one!

The Credors are amazing and the article was a great read. Had no idea about the Seiko-Epson tie. Producing only 11 GS Spring Drives a day also tells you how much hand work goes into them.

I was watching Shark Tank the other day, a show about entrepreneurs pitching their ideas to investors. (Dragon's Den in UK)
A couple of guys were pitching a golf putter that sold for over 500 bucks and it was exquisitely made. A work of art.
Interesting enough, they were struggling with US sales but they were highly successful in Japan. The sharks asked why.
The two guys said that US is obsessed with image and celebrity endorsements, while Japanese are willing to pay good money for a product that's well made and worth having.
That instantly brought GS to my mind and I must say I couldn't agree with them more.

That's so true about Japan, it's one of the reasons I love Japanese made things. They really understand form, function, simplicity and beauty. It's very evident when you handle a Grand Seiko.
I think they really epitomize the expression "more than the sum of its parts".
it probably accounts for the fact that the largest market for Phillipe Dufour is Japan and makes it very easy to understand the respect both Seiko and Mr Dufour have for each other.

Extremely interesting read. I quite fancy an Astron like Chip had but it will have to be later in the year.
