Nice looking piece and the blue on black is quite beautiful. Love the case, the rotor and the movement decoration too. An MSRP of $5450 seems a bit high with a modified ETA movement though. The Tudors seem to represent a better value using the ETA, albeit not highly decorated and no sapphire caseback, so maybe worth the extra cost. Thoughts?

I go back and forth on that too Baco Noir. In reality, they are cheaper than IWC, Breitling, Panerai, UN and a few other brands that will gladly charge you a lot more for something with an ETA movement. Also, Bremont does over engineer everything. Their metal is just as strong as Damasko and their shock resistance is also some of the best out there. The watch itself is extremely well built and aesthetics aside, I have zero doubt in my mind that it would hold up way better than Tudor in the real world. In this case, I think I read somewhere that it's the only watch in the world made from this type of steel, as it is proprietary to Boeing. I'd say it's something similar to what Damasko uses, another steel that was invented for the aerospace industry. (To me though Damasko presents a far better value though) With that said, they did screw up a couple of years ago when they claimed they used an in house movement, when in reality it was not. They might have built it and modified it, but it wasn't their design. That left many pretty upset with the brand. I've actually considered one of their offerings, the MB model. Non GMT. It's less money and having met several Bremont owners, I feel like I can trust their claim of making a near scratch proof watch. At the end of the day, I have a price bracket for non in house movement. I don't mind them but I have a price threshold for them. 5k plus is a bit rich for me considering the ETA base, but the MB model is still on my radar.

Must admit even before the movement claim debacle last year this brand left me cold. Add that in though and I have zero interest in them. So many other worthy alternatives out there to consider from "real" watchmaking companies I feel. I think the thing that leaves me constantly in wonder is the amount of copy they get in the watch press. In that respect they are remarkable in their ability to market their wares. I just get fed up on the fatuous trading on others history that they do such as this or the Wright Brothers, it goes on! Brands like Nomos or GS should be getting their copy space I feel!

Having seen many of their other models in the flesh, I got to admit I like the style and feel of their pieces. Having heard about the false claims about the in house movement it did make me have second thoughts about the brand. But I still find myself going back and having a look at them. This model again to me looks nice, apart from the movement claims they sure make good looking watches

I think they are vastly overpriced. As has been mentioned, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives out there.

Well, given the huge drama that was their movement launch, I like to see them return to what they do best, which is basically making super tough cases with anti-magnetic and anti-shock properties. The Model 1 really plays to their strengths because it's so focused on using two fairly exotic metals. Granted, the Model 1 was designed at the same time the Wright Flyer was, but hopefully we'll see a renewed focus on their core lineup. That said, even with the movement debacle, I'd love to see some relatively affordable pieces with that nice LJP movement.

It's a good looking watch. I just got to see it in person. The sapphire bezel is cool.

This brand has been on my radar, too, for the last couple of years. As you guys know, I love aviation themed watches as much, if not more than divers. My feeling, like others here, is that Bremonts are generally overpriced, considering that they use modified ETA movements. I knew about the scandal with the In house movement claim, as well, and that further solidified my feeling that they're "trying too hard" to make a name in the luxury watch market, without having done the necessary work to earn their spot. The watches look very appealing, but I don't think they justify their price tag. If I had unlimited watch funds, I'd pick one up. I don't put them in the same class as Breitling, Omega, or Rolex. I could buy a gently used Sub for the money Bremont wants for that watch. In fact, I did just that in the Summer. Just my two cents.....

Depending on whether a fair discount is available, I'd be a potential buyer.
They look very good in person.

I really like the styling on this one, but the price would would be more attractive for a LNIB version after the initial depreciation is taken or with a significant discount. There is a lot to like on this one.

IMHO the Damasko Si in house is the better buy, if you are willing to buy a brand that spends very little on advertising. A DA44 is likely to make its way back in my collection.
