Damn. I thought I was the only one that's never really seen a Patek that looks awesome. (Unless they cost a million dollars)

I'll say the same about the AP. I've never liked that watch until I had it on my wrist.
Once on my wrist, I was in awe.

At the airport and just got my first compliment on my watch from the guy at the convenience store. It was "Nice watch man and that smooth strap is great looking too. Not everyone can pull off a smooth strap like that." I have to say that caught me off guard. In all my years of wearing a watch it's only the second time a stranger complimented me.

Yup.
This and the BR are the only two watches I ever owned that attracted compliments from complete strangers.
It likely has to do with the fact that they simply do not look like your standard watch. They stand out.

I like the idea of having something different (in a good way) like the Panerai, Bell & Ross, etc. Over the years it can be come tiresome and these unique pieces keep things interesting and refreshed.

So true guys. This and my Breitling Avenger (48mm) are the only two watches that I have received comments on in the wild from non-WIS types. They were not bought for that reason at all, nor for their size in particular, but I think it's cool that non-watch folks notice and maybe that will inspire others to take an interest in watches. Albeit they could start with large fashion watches, but the passion has to start somewhere, right?

When I wore my previous Rolex (long gone) I would get comments, but usually it was the question "Is that real?"
I have received several positive comments on the PAM 104 I have.
All my others watches have never received comments from strangers that I recall except one - was wearing my Speedmaster in New Orleans last summer and a young kid (late teens) walked past me down by the river, and said "Nice Speedy!" as he passed me, holding up his wrist to show me he was wearing one also.
