Yeah, their presence on the forum is certainly missed by me. Carl used to do business with Otto Frei I believe. They service watches, sell on consignment and a few other things I believe. It's harder to find a good watch place than expected, even in the big city.

The place he dealt with is called Otto Friedl - Otto Frei is a spare parts distributor out of California. Easy to get confused on that one I admit!
I can't speak to the quality of their work (I don't recommend someone unless I know first hand what their work is like typically), but I have heard somewhat mixed reviews of the service given at Otto Friedl. The other one I have heard of is the German Watchmaker, but again I have no direct knowledge of the quality of their work.
Cheers, Al

Ah my mistake. Thanks for pointing that out, Al! Certainly easy to confuse the two indeed. I should have Googled it before posting but only had a few moments. Possibly worth checking out for someone in the area but I've also never heard (or read) reviews of their watchmakers work.

What a debacle. That AD needs to be dropped by Rolex. Good luck and hopefully Rolex can speed up the process for you mate

Thanks Pete! Think I will be a good winner and simply chalk it up to inadequate training. But I really do appreciate everyone's input and support. Geez, all this for a service...
And I will certainly hope the other guy makes sure to send his to an RSC, sounds like he simply cannot afford to have the job bungled. That watch is only two years older then mine for crying out loud!

Jamie - for the future, know this. It's easy to call a RSC and request service. They send you a packaging kit to mail the watch to them directly. With that, they also contact you directly to discuss the service needs and optional service items. By sending it in though the AD, RSC will only communicate with the AD since they are they sender.
