I deleted my comment. I guess I'll just keep it to myself to be kind. Wow

He bought the watch he wanted, and that makes it the right watch.
I found your post to be completely out of line and I would strongly suggest you apologise for your comments. He worked hard and saved for a long time to acquire that watch, and if that's what he wanted, if that's what made him smile, then it's the right watch.
While I get the humorous undertone of your post, the delivery failed spectacularly.
I would suggest an apology and we can all move on. Your first post was nice, and I hope this is just poor wording on your part.

Wow, what a nasty comment. Who made you king of right and wrong? My first Rolex was also a Sea Dweller AND I'm a certified scuba diver (Advanced Open Water and Nitrox) and yes my Sea Dweller went diving with me plenty of times.
Resale on the SD is great by the way, so not only are you just being nasty, but you are also clueless.
This response seems to correlate to the last 3 letters in your user name and I sure hope that bad attitude doesn't continue for long, because it won't be tolerated here.

Wait a sec. People should not be chastised for what they buy. It's their money and they're allowed to spend it on whatever they want. If it makes them happy, accept it. There's no need to insult them on their purchase. That shows a lack of character on your part.

Well, Brian, as far as I'm concerned, you bought exactly the right watch. I keep telling myself that I neither want nor need a diver watch, as I don't dive so do not require a rotatable bezel nor the water resistance that most divers are capable of. Especially the Sea-Dweller 4000. But it is a luxury item, and as such is not necessary but makes my life a lot happier. No justification required for either money spent or features which is does or does not have.
Almost a couple of months since you got it. I would be very interested to hear your comments about it! Sincerely hope you are enjoying it as much as you thought you would.
Now that this thread is back after a couple of months, it really started me thinking about what I really want. I am waiting to see the updated Explorer 1, but I somehow think it is not going to be the one. On the other hand, I have tried the Sea-Dweller 4000 a few times, and love it. It is also about 5 grand more than the Explorer. Nevertheless, I think I may have finally learned to wait and get what I really want rather than get something sooner that costs less money.
Cheers, Carl

Congrats you bought the wrong watch. I am new to this game also and as such I do not give a damn what any of the old time hand grabbers say. You bought a watch without a cyclops. Not my opinion only but for resale or even first purschase we like. I hope you got a good price. Market says? Sub no if and buts. You just bought a watch that lost half it's value when you bought. And let us be honest. Like all Rolex owners exposure to moisture is likely measured on the RH scale not the not some fantasy dive depth. Hey I got a funny joke. If you are at the beach how do you tell the divers from the sunbathers? The divers are not wearing Rolex. Ha Ha! Welcome to the forum. I am a beginner of watches so I am still learning it but I believe you have had a lot of high-end watches or you already had many Rolex watches then you put the comment based on your experience. To be honest, If you want to criticize for my SD4K, you should put your comment logically then I might agree with you even though I already purchased it (I would appreciate for the logically comments because I learn new things). However, only thinking about resale price of the watch then it is totally wrong decision that I have made? I do not agree with you. I think when you purchase a watch, you always think about the resale price of the watch first. This SD4K is a meaningful watch for me. I do not want to sell my watch even if the resale price goes down to the half of the retail price.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I'll disagree with the comment placed in bad taste. Although a Dweller would not be my first choice, it's still a spectacular watch well worthy of considerations. Takuya is a great P/O dealer and I'm sure the watch is of high quality so I for one, would be proud to have this in my collection.
Congrats Brian, you'll always remember your first, hopefully it will stay with you.

If you are at the beach how do you tell the divers from the sunbathers? The divers are not wearing Rolex. Ha Ha! Sniff, sniff... I sniff a troll. I have had a pre-ceramic SD for quite a few years. Value is holding up very nicely, thank you very much. The OP did ask for advice on the watch, so here it goes. One thing I should have done, which I did not, was to have a fellow forum member break-it in for me. It becomes critical with the metal bracelet. If somebody had stretched it for me, when I first got mine, then I would not have had to go through months and months of stretching it myself. Just saying. Just an FYI, I am willing to be the sacrificial lamb. Just ask Baco Noir. I have always been willing to take one for the team. Otherwise, I would suggest, strongly suggest, you enjoy your watch in good health.
