They must have been hiding this at the AD last week, because I didn't realize they had it. Went in to take a look - again - this evening. This time I noticed it in the display case, as the gold GMT hand stood out. Having heard about the beautiful GMT with gold hand and "GMT" also in gold, I had never seen it in real life. Wow! The dial is three dimensional teak much like the Omega AT, only more three dimensional. It looks almost like an anthracite, rather than pure black, but that may be just the way the light hits it on the various surfaces. The gold hand looks neither brushed nor polished, but whatever it is suits it very well, and it especially stands out against the beautiful dial. And what really brings it together is the beautiful titanium case and bracelet, the shade of the metal works so well with the rest of the watch: I'm afraid these pics do not do it justice. The level of polishing and all around finishing on the titanium is like nothing I have ever seen. Never been a fan of GMT watches for the most part, as I have never seen one that really appealed, and no need for the GMT function. I would, however, take this GMT in a heartbeat if only for aesthetics alone. I had thought that it is a limited edition. Somehow has all the makings of one, can't really explain why. Glad it is not. If it was, it would likely be sold out by the time I saved or sold other watches to get it. MSRP $9500CAD, $7000USD which, at today's exchange rate, is almost the exact exchange. Considering the SS Hi-Beat non-GMT is $8200CAD, this doesn't seem bad considering the movement and the fact it is titanium. Cheers, Carl A couple of better pics, courtesy of Timeless Luxury Watches:

That's a beautiful watch, the black dial version of the one carbon6 has. It is indeed stunning.

I bet that did look amazing IRL. The gold looks like it pops off the black teak dial. The hi beat GMTs with the long GMT hands are my favorites of the GS line.

It is a watch that I am positive you would love as well. Wish I had taken some pics of the sublime case, one of the most beautiful I have seen as well. I have had very little else on my mind since seeing it last night. Always a good excuse to go back over there, though. Glad you are back home safe and sound. Hope you can relax and have a good weekend. I am off on a short weekend trip with my brother, an hour north from here, a beautiful little town called Squamish. Cheers, Carl

Just came back for a second look on a bigger screen (my laptop) and wow. This thing is a stunner! With each day it becomes more clear why the popularity of these watches increases.

This is one to see IRL. The details on the dial and the titanium polishing is phenomenal. Very happy with my white dial version.

This is one to see IRL. The details on the dial and the titanium polishing is phenomenal. Very happy with my white dial version. It definitely does need to be seen to be believed. Unfortunately, I haven't yet been able to see the white dial version IRL. Loving the blued hand and "GMT" on that one. When I saw the photos of the black dial model with the gold hand, I didn't get too excited. After seeing it the other day, though, my opinion changed pretty quickly. I have seen quite a few titanium watches before, especially Breitling and Omega. But never this level of finishing and polishing. When I first held the watch in my hand, I felt that I was holding a piece worth more than it's MSRP and was rather surprised when I saw the price. It is not low, but I would have thought that the difference between the stainless steel non-GMT Hi-Beat and the Ti would be quite a bit more.

When Chip first showed me a pic of the GMT and told me the price, it took less than five minutes for me to decide. Both watches are fascinating pieces. When I got delivery of the GMT I was taken by the lustre and couldn't believe it to be titanium until picking it up and feeling how light it is. I used a 10x loupe to check out the teak dial and was so amazed at the details and 3D affect. One of the best value for the money IMO.

The accuracy is great too. So far every GS I've had surpassed all the Rolex watches I ever had my hands on.

The accuracy is great too. So far every GS I've had surpassed all the Rolex watches I ever had my hands on. Same here. The Hi-Beat is about +1sec/day and the Automatic is a steady +3sec/day. Better than advertised. They have surpassed two of three Rolexes I had, and all of my Omegas! Even the Seamaster 300 Master Co-axial. Not trying to diss either of these brands, but these are just the facts. Actually, more accurate than the Breitlings I have had as well, and even the inhouse Cartier movement on the Calibre de Cartier.

Further proof that Seiko's an amazing watch company.
