It's very similar to my 037, but Quartz. Box type sapphire. Yeah, I had forgotten that. BTW, when you got your new gold Rolex I was afraid that you had sold the 037. I was very glad indeed to see that you kept it!

Sadly, it will hit the chopping block soon. Somebody will get a good deal on a rare watch.

I am in absolute disbelief that I might actually own this watch. You guys know me well enough to realize that who I buy a watch from is almost as important as the watch itself. For that reason, even though I have seen a few pre-owned of this model, I would not even consider getting one. Timeless did have them when they were new, but I missed the boat at the time. Having their - and Chip's - seal of approval about the condition of this watch really means a lot to me. This is one exception where I have no hesitation in purchasing without first seeing the watch/model in real life.

Over time, as I have seen your photos of the watch, I have come to like it more and more. Matter of fact, I have thought on occasion that I would rather have it than either my silver automatic or black dial hi-beat. They are both going to be sold as well. So it will be just quartz GS for me. Although, if I had the bucks, I daresay I would consider your's. Among other things, I am very impressed about that case being one solid piece.

I'm in no rush to sell, at least not at this point. Unless life throws me a curve, I should have it a while longer, so if you ever want it, i would make you a WWF deal on it. And it has the signed box as well. I will go check out the one you like tomorrow and take some photos of it then report back.

Can't think of anything better apart from being there myself.

carl , If you'd like to borrow it, I'd be more than happy to lend it to you. Thanks, Chip. If it wasn't for the Customs and shipping thing, I would very likely take you up on the offer. That, and the fact that I am trimming my collection down to only quartz movement GS, and my Oris being the only mechanical. For a while, I was very anxious to see the new Rolex Explorer I, but now I have all but forgotten about it. If I end up getting this GS then, as I just realized, I will end up having my grail watch. I almost went for the SBGV009 from Seiyajapan about a year ago, but that has the silver dial which admittedly is gorgeous, but the black has always been my favourite. While I would certainly trust Sieya from all the great reviews, that I can get the one I really want, and from Timeless, is far more important to me.

I just really noticed the LE number: 49/900. Has special significance to me, as 1949 was the year of my birth.

Well, I will really be stretching myself thin to do this, but I just don't think I could live with myself if I pass this one up. Having purposely ignored the watch for over a year, realizing that I would probably never be able to get one. Anyway, I guess we just have to wait and see. Maybe this is the time of surprises for me. Never thought I would even see an SBGV019 either, let alone own one. Now this one came as a complete shock when I saw it. All going well, long as it's not gone, I should be able to get my funds together end of next week.

Wow! Thanks for the excellent pics Chip! The photos are the best I have seen yet of this watch. Just by the photos alone, I can see it is going to be the most beautiful watch I have owned, and am likely to ever see. I was literally in tears when I saw these pics. Just talked to Timeless, and the deal is done. Should have the watch in about 10 days!

I have totally changed my mind about the bracelet. Seeing your wrist shot, the bracelet looks like it is made for the watch. Puts my mind as ease, as I usually prefer the steel bracelets. Even the polished links don't look out of place with the highly polished case. That dial is amazing. I think that it's the only Grand Seiko with that anthracite dial as well. But I could be wrong about that. The end link that they made for the bracelet looks absolutely perfect as well. Thanks again, Chip, for taking a look at it, the great pics, and talking to Dan for me! Getting the watch from Timeless makes it even more special. Cheers, Carl
