Belonging to GRAND SEIKO HISTORICAL COLLECTION 62GS to honor the first GS automatic from 1967. It has no bezel, and is automatic and not hi-beat. The crown is recessed at 4 o'clock like the original, which was done to emphasize the fact that the watch did not need to be wound. Diameter 37.6mm Thickness 12.9mm. It was introduced at Basel 2015, so there are not many still around. I am hoping that, if there is one, I can do a trade with my SBGH005 and SBGR051. May be wishful thinking, but you never know.
For some reason, I thought that there were three LE precious metal (gold, red gold and white gold) only, of 100 pieces each. Now I see that there is a ss version as well, which is the LE of 600. I often seem to be too late for these LE models, although I lucked out with my recent quartz models.

Yeah, Chip, I still have my Hi-Beat SBGH005 and Automatic SBGR051. They are both in the same condition as the one I just bought from Timeless. And, I believe, maybe a slight bit of warranty. I emailed Dan at Timeless yesterday, asking if he would do a trade with them for the SBGR061, that beauty with the ivory dial which I swapped with Ian for my Rolex Air-King. Dan said they would do an even trade for it. But I started to think of the reasons I traded it. And remembered the SBGR095, which I looked at long ago. I thought they were sold out, and I thought it was only the gold they have. Anyway, I am hoping they still have one, as it's a LE, and does say on the website to inquire about the model. And, if they do, hopefully he will do the trade for that one instead. The MSRP is $4300. The other one is $4100. It would be great to get the historical model. It has the same type of case as your's, just a bit smaller. No bezel. Should hear back today. Dan sent me an email about the other one right away. I was going to sell those two for sure, to maybe get a new Rolex Explorer I. When I got the last one SGBV011 last week, I knew that I would rather have another GS. And also would be great to get another from Timeless, that is a big part of it as you know .

I hope you're able to make it happen, Carl! Your passion for Grand Seiko makes perfect sense to me and I've never seen one in person yet. Based on the pictures and what people have said about them I know they're incredible.

Just got an email from Dan at Timeless. We are going to do a trade, he has the watch in stock. I am stoked! I will get another LE from the GS Historical Collection. I have absolutely no hesitation about getting this one, even though I have not seen it in person! Each time I get a new GS, I think it is nicer than the previous. Looking at the pics and reading about the history, I'm sure this will be no different.

Wow, Carl! You are knocking it out of the park with these new acquisitions! Congratulations! Good for you man!! I've see that one as well and it's beautiful. I like this better than the regular model automatics as well, because it has a solid caseback. Funny thing now, the only watch I will own that has a sapphire caseback will be my GS Quartz LE SBGV019 . I was going to hold out for another quartz watch, really not wanting another automatic. But this one is so special, that I had to make an exception. And, having a nice dress watch with leather/croc strap is really great for the collection.
BTW, Chip, how long are you going to be in Spain?

The Grand Seiko lion logo on the case back is exactly the same as it was in 1967, and slightly different from the current logo found on modern Grand Seiko watches. This is the modern one. On my SBGX059 quartz:

With any luck, I should have the watch tomorrow. The watches that I am trading, arrived at Timeless today. Hopefully, they received seal of approval, and my new one is on the way.

Fantastic news there, Carl! This couldn't have worked out any better! Thanks, Rommel. Unfortunately, my joy was short lived. Sometimes, when things seem too good to be true - as in this case - they are. I will not be getting this watch. Disappointing yes, but not the end of the world. Just need to make up my mind what other model to get. I might actually get a couple more quartz models. Just going to take my time, and see what to do next.
Cheers, Carl
