I agree, they should have kept them. It was a (dare I say) iconic feature of the SMP, along with the helium release valve.
They should have kept it.

Yep, if they were to bring them back some day I wouldn't be surprised. I didn't like it as much on the 2220.80 but wow. It's totally different to anything else out there. for a regular matte or gloss dial I much prefer what Rolex offers.

Total agreement here. I miss my Omega Seamaster GMT (Great White). In my hunt for a new watch, I've looked at replacing it, but can't find one in good nick at a reasonable price. I've also been looking for the Ti version with the blue dial (no GMT), but same result. The wave dials rock!

I should have never sold mine, it was my very first nice watch. Excuse the cheesy text, it was ten years ago and I was just learning photoshop.

Baco Noir & CHIP Perfect examples of why I'll likely end up with another one in the collection. As you pointed out though Roger, they're hard to find sometimes in good shape, with all warranty cards etc, and at a fair price. If I didn't buy mine without the cards when that opportunity came up I STILL wouldn't have one. No others ever came up for sale within Canada, and the ones I saw on places like eBay etc in the USA were grossly over prices. By the time I paid import fees it would have been WAY too much for a watch that wasn't in like new condition.

There is a TT chrono SMP for sale on one of the local FB pages. Guy is asking 2500.

That's pretty tempting! Once my watch fund recovers I woudn't mind getting my hands on a few of these previous Seamaster models. It'll likely have to be imported though, it's hit and miss in the Canadian market.

Everything is a sine wave, it's just a matter of waiting until what is old becomes new again. The current flashier, glossier look will eventually lose its appeal as companies look to out-bling each other. Those Seamasters represent a kind of golden-age of Omega for me, in that they had hit a sweet-spot between price, value and utilitarian looks.

I only truly realized this after they became discontinued. Maybe they're right when they say you don't truly realized until something's gone.

I really do understand all of your comments. Those wave dials were great. Often times I miss my Omega Seamaster 2252.50.00 Auto 36mm. What a great little watch. It had the 1120 movement and, as a matter of fact, was the most accurate Omega that I ever owned: (not my actual watch, but it was identical to this)

carl for some reason I didn't remember you owned one of those Blake Seamasters in the past. An incredible movement, indeed. Just goes to show this new Master Co-Axial stuff is a load of garbage. I'm not convinced just yet anyway.

Nice @stochman. I had the Great White and it's one I regret flipping. However, I think a blue titanium version of one of these wave dial Seamaster's is in my future.
