Yep, that's right A pleasant surprise it was after a quick daily cleaning with a bit of dish soap in my hands. Some of you might remember I was unable to clearly see the serial number on my 2225.80 SeaMaster (seemed as if it didn't have one at all). As always I spent a bit of time admiring the details on the back and for some strange reason it caught my eye from the right angle with good lighting. Had to get the magnification lens from my Swiss Army knife as I don't have a 10x loupe (yet). Now if I wanted to (likely won't) I could get the card and tag ordered through Swatch Canada. My main reason for posting this is to try gather any info on Omega serial numbers available. TRF has a resource but the only link that seemed to work there for me was on vintage pieces. My serial number is 84945xxx, would any part of this be an indication to any sort of manufacturing date (roughly)?

IIRC, somewhere around 2004, Omega pulled their online serial number checker. All the online lists I've seen seem to stop around 1998 with the serial number ranges.

Thanks for that, Roger. Yeah, after doing more digging I suspected as much. Even with the warranty card sometimes stamped it doesn't help considering how long some of these things sat at the ad before someone claimed it.
I guess even with that info there's no guarantee to it's accuracy. At least with the Rolex resources (before random serials) it seems to match what the clasp code and booklet print dates say.
Worst case scenario is I'll have to wait until it's old enough and order an extract of the archives lol. Don't you just love being a WIS?

LOL - sometimes it's more of a love-hate relationship, since we get caught up in minutiae that others would never even consider!

Hey, Rommel, glad you found that serial number. I remember noting how important it is to you!

LOL - sometimes it's more of a love-hate relationship, since we get caught up in minutiae that others would never even consider! Indeed! Wouldn't have it any other way either lol. Hey, Rommel, glad you found that serial number. I remember noting how important it is to you! It certainly was but came up short on resources as you can see lol. I'm obsessed with the story behind my watches (or creating one). My Rolex is even more special thanks to this. All Omega (Swatch Canada) were able to confirm is the fact this watch wasn't sold in Canada because it's not on their records. They always try sell you on a new model which is nice if any of them had appeal (and I had the funds to spare) which us understandable. I'm shocked still at how hard these are to find. Omega doesn't release production dates (no company does) but some day I'll figure out more details. I guess it's all part of the fun in the end. Rolex still seems to be without a doubt my next acquisition when ever that will be.
