Well, that is a surprise. It really is a beautiful watch, but no the model I would ever have thought you would pick. It does share the case with the SBGR261 (formerly SBGR061), which I think is one of the most beautiful cases. It does give the watch a very vintage look. Very beautiful and understated look for a GMT. The small arabics are perfect size. Looks to me like the dial is a very fine grain rather than sunburst? Must take a look on my iPad screen, this Dell laptop screen really sucks. The blued GMT hand is very elegant and a perfect contrast.
I think you will really like that leather strap, and although the clasp seems thick at first, that raised and brushed metal bit really protects the strap. Beautifully finished, of course, in traditional GS style.
Congratulations, Chip!
Cheers, Carl

Cheers, Carl It’s both a fine grain and a sunburst, and the gmt ring has a different texture that changes colours depending on the angle. It’s really beautiful and the dial is a work of art. Not surprised they charge more for this one than they do for the bracelet models. I’m okay with no screw down crown too. Makes it easier to use.

Especially with having a rather large collection, I think the winding is better done that way. To be honest, I never was really that impressed with the GS screw down crown mechanism. I think Rolex wins the prize for best in that category, so I was really biased from the start.
